Rich white people don't usually go to jail for evading taxes. Generally speaking they settle in court with the IRS for a fraction of the amount of money that they actually owe and then get a meat and cheese gift basket from them 3 months later.

So like, I don't know what type of alternate reality you live in, but it sounds really scary.

We represented an insurance company which was investigating an alleged theft loss. For the third time, this Reverend had had several thousands of dollars of fancy suits and jewelry stolen from his car. His "receipts" were hand written and mostly illegible.

Since he had never filed a tax return, we asked how he had gotten the money to buy such a fine wardrobe.

"Luv offerins" he said, as if that explained everything. For 20 minutes he maintained that luv offerins were in no sense income, and no one had ever claimed they were. He really believed it.

I met Sharpton a couple times back in '88 when he was peddling the Brawley hoax along with Alton Maddox and C. Vernon Mason, who make Sharpton look like Ward Connerly. Charming as hell until somebody cracked a mic and then he turned on his race-hustler persona.

Name for me the Democrat of national prominence who's gone through New York City without making the obligatory pilgrimage to 125th St. for an audience with Don Alfred. If Hillary goes on to Secretary of State, Paterson's going to have to run any replacement choice by Sharpton or his budget plans will get NO traction south of I-287.
