A VERY local paper here didn't report the Obama victory either just a "How we voted" piece (all Republican save one).

Secessionists?

Oh great, another one of these. Some local newsie decided not to blow the schwantz of the Chosen One...shocking....

There was a fark story about a similar texas paper.

I feel so differently now from four/eight years ago.
Back then I wanted to find a liberal part of the country and
secede. Now I want Texahomasee to caucus with mexico.

Very slippery slope to "Okie refuses to hang portrait of Obama in home 'because I didn't vote for the guy'".

More than a dozen protesters stood in front of the Herald's downtown office Friday morning to get answers from publisher Darren Sumner.

More than a dozen? Now that's newsworthy.

How does reporting the results of the election = fellating the winner?

Did they report Bush winning four years ago?

Interesting article in today's NYT: The south has been diluted as a conservative voting block as demonstrated by the fact that the presidency/vice-presidency was won by two Northerners. Glad to see the backward parts revert to the marginal condition they deserve.

Come on it a paper of a circulation of 5000. What's next: pitchforks when mailing lists for beenie babies don't mention Obama's victory?

It is a local paper. They do local news. It is the only thing keeping them alive versus the larger papers and the internet.

2008-11-11 12:03:48 PM
At f1rst, I was like "well, it's a local paper, so why would they report national news?"

Then I was all like "OMG, a DAILY newspaper, and they didn't report it?!?! That's farked up."

Finally, I was like "Only 5,000 circulation, and it comes out at 4PM? Why the fark would they report national news?"

2008-11-11 12:04:09 PM
So? One hick town paper did something stupid.

Keep searching for racism and make sure jesse jackson has a job. If the last election proved anything it's that the rascist element in this country has been marginalized to the point of irrelevance.

Time to get past it and look to the future.

2008-11-11 12:04:26 PM
"I think that's just blatant racism," said Toni Delong. "If McCain had won, I'm sure he'd be all over the paper."

Not only racism, but BLATANT racism. The kind of in-your-face racism that is only topped by organizations like the KKK. This vile publication is diliberately insulting blacks everywhere, I say! Grab your pitchforks!

Not really one is a personal choice that shows your preference. The other is doing your job.

Should a secret service member not protect the president because he didn't like him?

They could clear this up easily by saying "well we didn't cover Bush being elected either." Well I wonder why they didn't say that?

Could it be because they did report on Bush winning?

Well, he did lose every county in Oklahoma.

I will be enjoying your misery for some time. I hope you have a horrible 8 years and then 8 more horrible years. I hope you end your life when the Supreme Court is 9-0 in favor of the right to privacy. And while you're at it, whine some more.

They did report that their local county voted for McCain. If you're going to mention that, there's no excuse for not reporting on who won the overall election.

Agreed

Objective newspapers should NOT be forced to print 100% reality because that would ruin the balance and make Republicans look far worse than how they view themselves. That goes for fark's PITA as well.

A 5,000 circulation hyper-local paper that prints at 4 p.m. not reporting the presidential election is nothing new. The people protesting this are idiots.

Honestly, if the newspaper's publisher was smart he would have done a "local reaction to the presidential election" story and this would have never been an issue to begin with.
