Gary Hart was Redwood!

W and Jeb were Tumbler and Tripper!

That must have been in Bush 41's day. Looks like Bush 43 changed it when he got the job himself: Link

Frank Sinatra: Napoleon

HAHAHAHA! Now that is funny.

2008-11-10 12:04:47 PM
Sarah Palin is Denali, which I first read as Denial.

2008-11-10 12:14:31 PM
But I hardly know her!

2008-11-10 12:19:42 PM
I still think driller only has 4 kids and a grandaughter.

McCain: "Phoenix". Yeah, that guy just keeps coming back.

Obama has an awesome code name. Bush as "Tumbler" is funny as well.

The Pope as "Halo" is not terrible creative, though.

2008-11-10 12:31:00 PM
I still love that Obama is "Renegade" :)

2008-11-10 12:38:24 PM
A few in this list just don't ring true. "Steel Magnolias" seems to have too many syllables to be something you would want an agent to be saying into a microphone under times of duress.

Plus Barack and Michelle Obama's codenames are pretty similar-sounding.

Who is this James Edward guy?
His handle is a punchline for an old joke - what starts with an F and ends with UCK?

/Firetruck.
//please don't ban me.

Looks like John Kerry has problems keeping his wad, and the Prophet of Truth must have been based on Pope John Paul II.

2008-11-10 12:58:44 PM
I would love to listen in on the meetings where this is decided.

Yeah, I was under the impression that radio code names exist so there's absolutely no question who you're talking about. The idea is that it's a quick, simple word that won't easily be mistaken for some other name/word.

Security issues aside, that is.

Why did I think GWB would be "Gilligan"?

2008-11-10 01:01:40 PM
These are great.

Only thing different, I wouldn't call George H. W. Bush Sheepskin. His name would be Capt'n Bran.

apeman12: Why do so many dead guys have code names still?

These were their codenames when they were alive.

Cool list.

2008-11-10 01:01:50 PM
"Renegade" may mean deserter instead of rebel. Still sounds cool as hell tho. Barack O'Renegade kicks ass and takes shiat from no-one.

Wasn't "An Inconvienient Truth" a big hit for Sundance at Sundance? .

2008-11-10 01:03:39 PM
I thought Ford would have made a good "Tumbler".

2008-11-10 01:04:42 PM
It couldn't be because he works in the oil industry. Nah, must be because he has a number of kids.

/Wouldn't that make Romney "Driller"?

KingKauff: Why did I think GWB would be "Gilligan"?

Yeah, somebody has a sense of humor and knows their acronyms.

Also, anyone else think it's ironic that the Obamas have 'R' - same as the Reagans?

2008-11-10 01:10:10 PM
not the first to say it, but this list is bullshi. code names are short, clear sounding terms so they are easilly recognized and identified over radio.

2008-11-10 01:16:15 PM
Given the nature of some of these (like Jesse Jackson's and W's) what would Billy Carter's code name have been?

2008-11-10 01:16:17 PM
