A snippet of one of the posts cited:

I watch the Weather Channel often - to actually get the weather - but they are very liberal and promote "climate change" as part of their agenda. Be warned.

For daring to say that the Republican party, today in 2008, is not the same party she registered for in 1982.

You know what I like about Freepers? I was getting a little too lovey dovey, accepting, and forgiving of my fellow man. I was getting to the point where I could say "Live and let live" and actually mean it. I was starting to think that I could even kick it with the Dalai Lama and shiat.

Then I started seeing what Freepers were up to, and now, I remember the joy of having an enemy. Whether they know it or not, we're arch nemeses. And that feels good. Righteous, even.

This is hilarious, but also kind of sad. To think that there are people that really believe this Freeper nonsense. *shudder*

For example: "I get all of my news from Conservative websites (like here on FR) and 1. Rush, 2. Levin, 3. Hannity 4. some Boortz 4. and some Laura Ingraham."

I guess there was a tie for 4th place.

You know, for as often as I see these guys running fundraisers for themselves (even though I thought handouts were just for dirty liberals, but ok), they sure do seem to love pushing away potential donors.

Wow... so that person knows nothing about what's really going on in the world.

person quoted in tfa: Besides this slamming of Palin, a couple nights ago, didn't one of the Fox people call FreeRepublic a "hate site"?

I doubt Fox anyone at Fox would tell the truth like that.

BWAAA. You think these guys donate a dime to the party? These are just basement dwellers out there screaming about "SOCIALISTS" and whatever else they are coming up with. They haven't got a dime to their names.

so freepdom wants to cut their nose off to spite their face. How very predictable and self destructive. they won't do it of course. Where else would they get their fix other than am radio? they are like kool aid junkies. if they don't get constant reinforcement reality starts to seep in.

This was my favorite:

"Yesterday I had had enough!! Fox left us behind with all the democrat talking heads.
That with all of this working to hurt Sarah Palin is the end for me.

I really think that God will step in and fight for her. He never rushes in. He is kind and sometimes He waits to let people show their worst. The time will come when He will move and when He does, I wonder how much power Fox News will have left.

I would not want to be in the shoes of all of those working to destroy Sarah Palin"

This could end up being funny. Imagine this: The GOP abandons Palin, and 4 years from now, she makes a run in the primaries, but gets little outside of the Evangelical vote.

A moderate Republican is selected, but Palin and the freepers still POed at how she was treated by the party after '08s election, so she runs as an independent.

She gets 10% of the popular vote, drawing enough votes away from the moderate Republican candidate to ensure an Obama victory.

Cool, huh?

Yes they are. They haven't learned one thing. And next election may not be kind at all to Senate Republicans.

"The Republican brand is still alive and well, Rep. Mike Pence said on Fox News Sunday.

When asked by Chris Wallace what "conservative solutions" the GOP would bring to their current minority-party status, Pence said social issues like "the sanctity of marriage" will remain the backbone of the Republican platform."

The Democrats have managed to keep the far left in line compared to their conservative counterparts. It may also have had something to do with the changing attitudes of the electorate, but looking at '04 and the MoveOn crowd's voice, the Democrats realized they had to play closer to the center.

In one sense, he's on the money in that they've always used the "God, guns, gays" wedge issues to win elections and they probably will need to pull them out again in the future.

However, the problem with that strategy is that it requires people to be in a situation where they actually care about those things. With two wars on and the economy disintegrating, wedge issues lose a lot of their weight.

One of my friends tries once in a while to remind the Freepers that Nixon saw the cracks during the so-called "Kitchen Debate" and that St. Reagan was just in office at the right time. Not deifying St. Reagan is the quickest way to get a ban in Freeperville.

The problem is that St. Reagan whored out the party and invited in the wackjobs.

I've got family that firmly believes that. Bush has literally never, ever done anything wrong. Even telling me after Pennsylvania was immediately called for Obama that McCain was still going to win and saying after Ohio was called for Obama that it wasn't over yet. They haven't talked to me since then.
