I read the article. I didn't see anything about people not wanting to work with the incoming President.

Sounds like the same level of cooperation Bush got. what's the problem?

Me either. I hope everyone will start working together to get some things accomplished, but I didn't see any evidence in that article to suggest they won't. That also doesn't mean they will, just that this article didn't say shiat about it either way.

Have you been listening to the wacko nutjobs lately? Limbaugh was screaming about punishing anyone who even THINKS about working with this guy.

"Tens of millions of families are struggling to figure out how to pay the bills and stay in their homes," Obama said. "Their stories are an urgent reminder that we are facing the greatest economic challenge of our lifetime, and we must act swiftly to resolve them."

vs.

"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family."

I am so looking forward to your next four years, America. Cheers!

That's sad. Not that I really expected everyone to get onboard the Obama-can-do-it train or anything ... but I'd hoped they'd at least take a break for a few weeks and see what happens before formulating plans to drive further partisan wedges between American politicians and voters.

Yeah, well that starts with us setting the environment we expect our politicians to which they must adhere. This submission falls extremely short of that mark.

I agree... but I'm guessing the headline was written to be flame bait. That being said, so far it seems that the thread itself is displaying the right characteristics of unity considering some of us pointing out that the headline is misleading are Obama supporters/voters.

The right-wing fringe has been trying to convince America for a long time that Democrats are very literally the enemy of the country. Look at the title of Hannity's second book.

Having gone fully down this road, they have no choice but to believe that the country is now in the hands of the enemy. It's unfortunate but it is truly the only logical outcome of the process that Lee Atwater started almost 30 years ago.

Rush is worried about his belt-wallet being tightened and grasping for relevance with levels of righteous indignation worthy of a cult leader.

Most people that call themselves conservatives listen to him for entertainment value at best.. and even that wore off a decade ago. My bet is that people like him will slowly fade from the limelight (as I hope the far left inciters do as well).. and they'll go down just like the wicked witch of the west did.. screaming and melting the whole way.

Yeah, I agree. I just hope it keeps up and we dont get shouted down by the extremists again. I've got hope for Obama. I think he can pull us back together and get the center working with each other again on ideas instead of ideology.

I think so too. I'm being realistic about it though. I expect there will be holdouts that will nay say everything he says and does and simply won't even try to work together to make our country better (the "my way or the highway" crowd). It would be incredible and we would accomplish a LOT if everyone worked together, but I still think we can accomplish a LOT even with those few holdouts who panic at the slightest bump in the road.

That's horseshiat and you know it. Bush was the most popular person on the planet after 9/11. Most people were with him with Afghanistan. Most people were with him with Iraq until we found out the basis for it was all bullshiat and then he started to shred the Constitution. That's when people jumped ship.

But even if that were true and Bush is so unreasonably persecuted that he makes Jesus look like a spoiled brat, is perpetuating this with the next President good for the country?

I think the Obama family should make a fake tape where Michelle berates Barack for wearing Tighty Whiteys on laundry day, and release it to the press.

No, I think that an Obama presidency was the best career opportunity he's seen in nearly a decade. What's sad is that Rush has a core of supporters who are not sane. And he's only encoraging them to be even nuttier.

Look, Rush is worried because his fact, the so called 'social conservatives', were just humiliated in front of the world. He's afraid that everyone has realized that his faction is the problem, not the solution. And if they're out of power, he can't be the king maker any more. You can look at it in terms of ego too, if you'd prefer. Rush's chosen candidate lost and lost badly. that was a rejection not just of his choice, but of HIM. And nobody tells Rush Limbaugh 'no'. that just doesn't happen! He was proven wrong and Rush can't even find a scapegoat.

So he's going to manufacture a scapegoat - 'moderates' - and they're going to be driven out of the Republican party.

Are you in the same universe I am?

In the last 5 years ALL the Democrats seemed to have forgotten that they ALL voted for the war with Iraq. Great cooperation there.

Shall we talk about Judicial appointments?

Why do stupid democrats put me in the place of defending this jerk-off administration?

Try looking at things honestly for once.

Bush sucks and has for a long time.

But don't try to act like the Democrats have been trying hard to get along. That is total bullshiat and you know it.

I would think that Rush, Hannity, BillO probably voted for Obama. I mean, it guarantees them 4 years of uninterrupted attacks. They don't have to try and defend ridiculous policies that they themselves probably saw as stupid. They can go on the attack and they can whip the GOP base in to a frenzy while making ridiculous claims about the socialist, commie, radical, leftist, liberal, black man that is president.

I think the problem comes in when his viewers can't see that he is playing to their idiotic fears for ratings and they start to see him as the beacon of truth.

I'd agree that the hardcore dittoheads are a lost cause. They've lost any objectivity they might have once had and are merely empty headed cultists now.

However - this election proved that Limbaugh and his buddies have lost control of 'conservatism'. They no longer control the message. shiat - they can't even DEFINE the message anymore. That's now being done online. Not just here but all over the net. The lies and the bullshiat won't fly anymore, because it gets torn apart and it's weaknesses exposed.

THAT is why Rush is afraid. Not just that he's out of power but that he won't be able to get it back.

I'll make a deal with you...when Obama starts a war for questionable means, destroys the DoJ in a partisan witch-hunt in an effort to push a political agenda, opens a quasi-legal prison on a military base off the shores of America and holds prisoners of war against all reasonable world laws, and does so while engaging in idiotic saber-rattling thus destroying America's credibility on the world stage while simultaneously being an embarrassment to the rest of America...you can totally validate the Republicans refusing to work with him.

In fact, the use of enormity as a synonym of enormousness or immenseness has been hotly disputed in the dictionary world. Personally I favour the side that doesn't want to change the meaning of a word just because it is used incorrectly by many. It means extremely evil. Get over it.

Can't even make a little frickin word joke about the Chosen One with you people? Don't take it so seriously.

I caught the opening hour and a half of Rush's friday show. He spent that time urging violence towards 'moderate Republicans'. apparently he's figured out that the Republicans needed the fiscal conservatives in order to win, but Rush dosen't like the fact that 'those people' have different ideals than he does. And if you aren't with Rush then you're against him - you're THE ENEMY.

yadda, yadda, sith lords, democracy, thunderous applesauce, blah blah.

I really think the social conservatives are going to go bonkers now. I just wonder how far they'll push it.
