Funny stuff on the headline.

Fox News beat out several other networks to be the first to talk with Palin after her failed vice presidential bid, including requests by Barbara Walters, Oprah Winfrey, Larry King and others.

I can hardly believe it!

Filter pwnage.

2008-11-07 07:17:45 PM
OMFG! That's amazing. Sarah has been booked so full with interviews, that it's practically a miracle for FOX to secure one!!!! Especially since they've been so hostile towards her.

stvdallas: Palin vs. Hillary in 2012?

How is Hillary going to be able to run as a nominee with an incumbent President?

She lost the democratic primary this year, but she'll be able to convince the democrats to drop an incumbent President to run her?

2008-11-07 08:38:40 PM
palin may announce, but no way she even makes it past iowa and new hampshire. even republicans aren't that stupid.

bulldg4life: How is Hillary going to be able to run as a nominee with an incumbent President?

If Obama trashes the country, the Democratic Party may party like it's 1968 and not renominate him. But I don't see that happening, even in Bizarro World.

"misinformed about several foreign affairs issues"

Yeah, whichever aide "misinformed" her about Africa should probably be fired.

In 1968, LBJ made a televised announcement that he would not run for
president. He was not "not" renominated. I remember that night quite well.

I could see Obama and his posse trashing the Blackhouse and all of the accessories that accompany the position. Every cousin, aunt, uncle, brother, and friend of Michelle Obama is going to be eating high on the hog in and around the Blackhouse. The carbon footprint the posse is going to leave.....just wait, they will be spending millions of dollars on extravagant posse expenses and it will not be reported.

More likely: Fox News scores only post-election interview with Sarah Palin

Skim through this thread (pops like your taco) for some of the comments by our resident right-wingers.

They absolutely are that stupid.

I'm so excited for 2011 when she will announce for President. I'm psyched for it.

Now there's a surprise. I caught Greta Van Susteren at the end of some program post-election saying that Sarah Palin had been unjustly treated by the main-stream-media. Greta's position was that the way Sarah had been attacked was almost like hate-speech.

<Cousin Vinny>I'm sure</Cousin Vinny> this will be a hard-hitting interview -- it will probably make Babwa Wawa sound like Bill O.

2008-11-07 09:18:13 PM
Greta van Susteren? I'm shocked! This interview is going to be t-ball questions.

CNN actually had a post-election interview with Palin today when she implicitly confirmed that she didn't know that Africa was a continent and who was in NAFTA by suggesting the leaks came from her debate-prep team, and called the people who leaked that info "jerks". Her word!

Actually, just read the quote:
"I think if there are allegations based on questions or comments that I made in debate prep about NAFTA or about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context, and that is cruel and mean-spirited, it's immature, it's unprofessional, and those guys are jerks," Palin said.

It's not fair and it's not right," she said.

I was kind of skeptical that the NAFTA and Africa things actually happened, because there was only one source, but Palin herself just confirmed that she had questions or comments at the most basic level about NAFTA and Africa - by trying to defend herself, instead of dismissing the comments - and pinpointed the advisers who'd have had the most substantive discussions with her about foreign policy as being the source. The major advisers doing debate prep for Palin were Randy Scheunemann, Steve Schmidt, and Mark Wallace, Nicolle Wallace's husband. It likely would have been someone fairly high-up leaking the Africa-country story for it to be reported with such assurance by Carl Cameron at Fox News.

Palin isn't just dumb. This is weapons-grade idiocy. If someone says "She doesn't know who's in NAFTA", that's the time when you say, "Canada, America, Mexico. Someone is just lying to try to save their ass." You don't stamp you foot and say, "OMG! My debate prep team is so MEAN for alleging this stuff to you guys in the gotcha media!!"

Exactly. Even if, for one minute, you could suspend your reality and imagine Palin as having average intelligence, the first thing she should have done was exonerate herself. Once she began the litany of blame, she confirmed her ignorance.

What continually shocks me is the support she still garners from people. I listen to local talk radio (when I'm not cursing at it) and have heard all kinds of distorted reasoning given as why Palin is being victimized. People relate to her on a visceral level that is beyond reason. The distorted logic that's necessary to defend her is mind-blowing.

I also don't get the "your sources are anonymous so I won't answer" thing. Does she think the media made it up? Why not answer it?

This woman is cold-fusion ignorant.

I almost thought it was a trick question at first. There's only 3 countries in North America, so my reflex response was, "Duh, the only three countries participating in the North America Free Trade Agreement should be the only three countries in North America, Canada, Mexico and US. But then I started second-guessing myself. I'm glad my first reaction isn't dumb.

the_be_sharps: I almost thought it was a trick question at first.

I think the guy on Fox misspoke when he was doing his reporting on the mistakes that he kept underwraps until after the election.

I believe he did, at least once, say "she didn't know the countries in North America" and then, I believe, said also "she didn't know the countries in NAFTA".

Now, the NAFTA thing is inexcusable, but the "all the countries" thing is almost understandable.

I mean, I doubt she's going around without knowledge of US, Canada, Mexico...but I bet 90% of the people on this site aren't going to get Montserrat and all the Central American countries, among others.

Montserrat isn't a country - it's part of the UK.

I am not at all surprised by the support she has among her "natural base". I think her support splits very much down a gender and ideological line. I would guess the local talk radio types and Freepers/right-wing blogosphere types defending Palin are white men of a socially conservative mindset who live in either suburban/exurban or rural areas, rather than more cosmopolitan centres.

I agree about the visceral reaction being the source of her support. I think that visceral identification of her as "one of us" is a combination of her typifying a social ideal to them - the Christian mom, the gun-loving frontierswoman - with pronounced sex appeal. She embodies prudish, conservative social norms, but has a startlingly sexy image - her skirts are a few inches higher than a politician or most women 40+ in high-profile public positions normally wear, those high-heeled boots, the long hair. She must be a dream come true to the socially conservative male psyche, which loves a "traditional woman" as an attack dog so much that the content of their message is less important. She's one of them - she's their ideal wife, the protective mom, and she's their defender. They have a group mentality that both prizes "individualism" (only when directed at the "elite" or the "liberal media") and hates anyone who isn't in lockstep with the orthodox viewpoint du jour. And of course, she has been attacked by all of the interests they find suspect - intellectuals, elites, centrists/"RINOs", liberals, the media - and ex-members of their group who must have been "in name only", because they disagree on an issue/individual's merit. What this all adds up to is a population that feels outnumbered, that has just encountered their dream woman, and a combination of needing to defend their group and male chauvinism has awakened a strong protection instinct in them when it comes to Sarah Palin.

That's probably a mind-set answer that she was force-fed while under the guidance of the McCain camp.

I have promised to stop McCain bashing post election. However Palin I am still giving myself time.

Besides did you read, now she says Stevens should not resign. (I remember a time when I used to see this stuff on Fark first)

She says that now since he was reelected he should not resign.

Huh? So if you are leaving congress you should resign but if you are not then you shouldn't?

2008-11-08 12:11:07 AM
I don't see her in the political scene again, soon she will realize she was nothing more then an attempt to sway a niche of voters. And although she has many hittable qualities, listening to her talk is as painful as listening to a cat caught in a fan belt. Aside from Alaska her political career is done.

the_be_sharps: There's only 3 countries in North America

Nice try, but North America is everything north of Panama. This includes Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and the rest of the tiny countries between Mexico and Colombia. Greenland is also considered to be part of North America.
