FARK OFF YOU BASTARDS!1! A little bit of anything isn't going to kill the baby, barring illegal drugs and that. FFS, you try and take a pregnant woman's coffee away and you are going to have one hell of a fight on your hands. She's miserable enough without everyone nagging her about what she's eating and drinking.

I think you need to re-read the headline, silly. If you put your thinking cap on, it will eventually make sense to you.

Yeah yeah...or a swift bullet to the abdomen.

Seriously, when I was pregnant with my first, there was a book I checked out that said that women shouldn't eat vegetables, because the bitter taste tells you they have toxins in them. Also, a blow to the stomach couldn't make you lose a baby, it would take a puncture, like a stab or bullet wound.

My physiology prof way back when said that FES comes in gradations, and said if you are even suspicious of pregnancy, you shouldn't drink at all. Which I agree with.

He also said the guys should do the same for solidarity.

Your physiology prof is a fear-mongering dickhead and a man-hater. First off, in the 3rd world hellhole of England, the BBC says that a drink or two per week is harmless. Second of all, you're going to be running your husband like a slave when you're pregnant, so he damned well needs a drink.

Then I guess your Physiology Prof disagrees with most doctors in Europe. It is binge drinking and drinking to excess in any one sitting, or constant high levels of alcohol in the system that startes to effect a developing fetus. One or two drinks during the week isn't going to hurt. Same goes with Caffeine. My boss's sister is an OBGYN and she says that the caffeine thing is stupid fear-mongering.

Oh, hi. Did we know each other when I was pregnant? Because this sounds exactly like some tirade I would have gone on after getting crap for my one cup of coffee per day.

Is this new? I remember (20 years ago) watching the ultrasound video my 10th grade teacher brought in of her baby.
"Why is he jerking around like that?"
"Oh, that's from caffeine. Yeah, I stopped drinking coffee after seeing that - we didn't know."

It just makes sense not to use caffeine while pregnant. Your baby absorbs caffeine that you drink. Do you really want to listen to your baby go through caffeine withdrawal the first few days of its life?

You would need to be drinking quite a bit of caffeine for that to be happening. Several cups a day anyway. Pregnant women shouldn't be doing that but a cup in the morning? Not going to hurt.

I'm aware of that. European doctors disagree. The North American OB/GYN's have always been a little more paranoid about this sort of thing from what I udnerstand.

When are we going to get around to sterilizing and branding those with unacceptable genomes at birth? Add a mute button and we'll finally have a worker's paradise!

Average the Parent's IQ and if it's under 105, Sterilize!

Then give them some soma and let them go to the feelies.

Nope, guess I just listen too much to the people I work with from Europe where the doctors aren't saying this even if their health commissions aparently are. Take from that what you will. And there was the really high profile study last year from researchers in the UK that showed no adverse effects with moderate drinking during pregnancy.

- Better teeth: Seminal plasma contains zinc, calcium and other minerals shown to retard tooth decay. Since this is a family Web site, we will omit discussion of the mineral delivery system. Suffice it to say that it could be a far richer, more complex and more satisfying experience than squeezing a tube of Crest--even Tartar Control Crest. Researchers have noted, parenthetically, that sexual etiquette usually demands the brushing of one's teeth before and/or after intimacy, which, by itself, would help promote better oral hygiene.

WIN!

That actually had an interesting tidbit in it about pain (for her) during sex.
