What attracted you most to him, wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on a blowjob, or his eating whipped cream off a hooker afterwards?

What's not to love?

So: I know nothing about Barr. I am not really interested to be truthful - I think the LP fighting for the White House when they can't even field a decent congressional candidate is dumb.

What I would like to know from you is, and I base this on conversations I've had with other people in real life and on FARK; would you say he is more:

1. The crazy uncle that thinks federal taxation is so over the top evil that only an over the top solution will fix it OR

2. The guy with challenging, often Santa-like facial hair wearing a Cliff-Huxtable sweater OR

3. (The Icelander option) A guy with a airbrushed wolf t-shirt fetish OR

4. A bitter partisan wishing to pirate a ship of fools.

This is all in the interest of science, or something, to be sure.

vonster: That'd be bad if it really was a racist e-mail instead of just mooks like you calling it that. If a Republican mentions black people...

if he presumes that black people are showing up to the polls AT ALL because they are voting for a specific candidate, and further presuming that they are doing so for purely racially based reasons...

yes, that is racist. it is characterizing a people based on their race.

cousin-merle: vonster: I'll shut up now.

That's a better idea than digging yourself into the same holes everyone else does. Democrats wouldn't need to send lawyers to all these states if Republicans were comfortable letting black people vote. You'd think they would have gotten over it after 139 years.

Read a real history book! Democrats have done more to fix elections than the Republicans ever dreamt of. 1960 is a good pres. example, 2004 in Wash. state is a good gov. example.

5. Capture of Bin Laden or claims of him being cornered

6. The greatest single trading day in the history of Wall street

My nephew and step-son are lawyers, volunteering for Obama. It is my understanding that the number 5000 actually represents the number of lawyers nationwide, not FL. My nephew and step-son are going to FL for the Jimmy Buffett concert Sunday, the "Last Chance for Change" rally, but not necessarily to work on Tuesday. TFA may not be entirely accurate.

This.

When my Dad passed away earlier in the year, we needed a lawyer to help with his estate. The farking parasite tried to charge us £6,000. I needed another lawyer to point out that the first one was out of order, and THAT cost me £1,500.

Wherever there is human misery, there will be a lawyer not far away.

There is a tool, it is tool that has been seen as good and evil throughout the ages. It is a tool that was invented to impose the will of men upon other men. It is a tool that can destroy the lives of hundreds, or even thousands. It is a tool that can defend just as many. It is a tool that many people hate, many people defend, and many people misunderstand. The tool I am talking about is not this:

Pre-Reagan isn't really relevant. The Republicans are trying to suppress minority voters right now. They have spent the last three decades hating black welfare queens, thieving latino illegals, turban-wearing ayrabs, bra-burning feminists, stoner hippie youth & turtle-diddling homos. Now their only choice is try to get these people not to show up to vote in swing states. At least Charlie Crist had the balls to defy his party and extend early voting hours. Holy shiat, there's a Republican that still believes in democracy.

Since that would include the offices capable of enacting them you shouldn't be allowed to vote in those elections. Voting for sheriff or state auditor judges and others that implement laws in place is fine as long as you pay the poll tax.

stiletto_the_wise: Maxor: It sorta makes sense to but long run there is no incentive for the guys with money to continue earning it if it gets taken away and given to others. An economy without earners will fail.

This mantra keeps getting repeated over and over, particularly in tax threads, despite how ridiculous it is.

Do you REALLY think people sit there and say:

I could either make $30,000 this year and get taxed $3,000 leaving me $27,000, or I could work and achieve, and make $300,000 this year, but be taxed $200,000, leaving me $100,000.

And actually choose to be poor?

There is always incentive to work to be rich even with high taxes. If you make more money than someone and are taxed more, you're still better off than him, no matter what your marginal tax rate is. This is how progressive taxation works!!!

See thats where I question things I make about 50,000 per year and get taxed very close to 30,000. My tenants make about 20,000 per year and get taxed about 4,000. They get section 8 housing and live in about as nice of conditions as I do. They get WIC and foodstamps and tend to eat in a much more costly manner than I do.
Why should I work my ass off for $50000 when they work part time for $20,000?

I don't do it at this moment because its still just barely better for me to work and make what I make than to get a part time job as a store clerk and depend on handouts. however its getting closer all the time and damned tempting.

Nothing of real value to contribute but as someone who thinks both main candidates are poor choices, and thinks worse of people who treat politics as some sort of religious ideal - something requiring faith and hope and trust and fanatic devotion ...

patrick767

Here in Indiana, Republicans tried to shut down satellite early voting stations in Lake County and even to disallow votes that had been cast there already. The stations were set up so people wouldn't have to make a one hour drive from near Chicago to the city county building on the other end of the county. Of course urban voters near Chicago means mostly Obama supporters, so the GOP wanted to suppress it. The judge basically told the Republicans to GTFO.

According to both historical reports as well as current day (new window), voter fraud in lake county is so rampant and early/mail-in/etc registration so poorly regulated that it needed to be stopped (lacking the time to entirely re-do it). This is coming from republicans despite having a slight lead for their party in the polls of the area (yes really) and at in collected votes at the time of the case.

It may be that they felt the election was so close, that a non-key county that demonstrated pro-republican voter fraud would tip the scales against them? It may just be that the latest round of voter fraud was pro-Obama instead of the status quo. Who's to say for sure?

Either way, having lived in and around Chicago for the first 20 or so years of my life, I can say that voter fraud is an especially prevalent form of crime.

"In most places in the country, voting is looked upon as a right and a duty, but in Chicago it's a sport. In Chicago not only your vote counts, but all kinds of other votes--kids, dead folks, and so on."

Funny thing. When there's no universal healthcare, indigents and poor folks who have to be treated by hospitals in worst-case scenarios (because they didn't have checkups, they didn't have prophylactic care) end up costing those hospitals so much that they have to recoup it from you and me with jobs and insurance.

D_Moran: libbynomore2 at 11:07:25 AM -- "Obama's new world order: using Government resources to look for dirt on an average American who had the nerve to ask him a question he didn't like."

Where's your evidence the breach of privacy was from the Obama camp? It could have been the press or even curious state employees. People are always interested in celebrity. Last year, George Clooney's hospital records were viewed by 40 different employees at his NJ hospital.

Then you must also be outraged at the current administration's warrantless eavesdropping on email and telephone calls? This surveillance has included telephone calls made by US soldiers, journalists and aid workers.

"Censoring media outlets who ask he or his running mate tough questions."

You mean by asking loaded questions that imply you're a Marxist? Or is it by asking "gotcha" questions like "what newspaper do you read"?

"Now, throwing reporters off of his plane because their paper's endorsed someone else."

The McCain camp threw Joe Klein of Newsweek off their plane and threatened to limit the magazine's access. NYT's Maureen Dowd was thrown off as well.

"and this type of leftist fascism will only get worse."

You mean worse than it is now?

1. Extra-judicial rendition -- sending Canadian citizens, like Mahar Arar, to Syria to be tortured.
2. Holding prisoners without charge or trial at Guantanamo Bay -- that is, until the Supreme Court intervened.
3. The use of torture or "enhanced interrogation".
4. The aforementioned warrantless wiretaps.
5. Destroying White House Records that, by law, must be preserved. Gee, the emails from the every computer, the server and the HD backup were "accidently" erased! My bad!
6. Secret meetings with Oil executives to formulate energy policy.

Arabs: Obama 'One of Us'

While Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama "has tried to push his origins into the background, his 'Islamic roots' have won him a place in many Arabs' hearts."

That's the observation of Iranian-born commentator Amir Taheri, whose column in Tuesday's New York Post notes that many Arabs and other Muslims see Obama as "one of them."
