Sometimes life lessons are hard taught. Just last night my daughter came home with a slatternly pirate wench costume - that she appeared to have picked up at either the local K-mart or the dumpster outside of a Goodwill, and asked "Daddy, do you wike my costume?"

I killed me to say it but Petunia and I have a pact; nothing but total and complete honesty. So though it killed me inside to say it, "No, I don't like it one bit. You look like a two-bit skeeve." I replied.

1. Noun: a country lass or working girl

Seems straight forward. Serving wench, the goodwife was a jolly wench, whatever.

It does not necessarily mean "whore". I know it's been used by Shakespeare, and I believe wench is even mentioned in the Canterbury Tales.

Although some of the Halloween costumes I've seen are indeed wrong for young children, I think that one pictures in the article is fine. With all the really slutty costumes covered in pink glitter to attract 8 year olds, why would you pick this one out as inappropriate?
