Now THIS is politics done right.

In a stupid Napa county congressional election, is all.

In SoCal, where women talk dirty anyway, it isn't such a big deal.

What about old people?

They'd hang up as opposed to listening. So I guess it evens out.

I don't know that I'd vote for the guy, but he's got class. I don't mean the call, I mean that he refused to naame or fire the staffer and took responsibility for the call. Most politicians would ditch the moaner before the morning paper came out.

Yeah, but old people are probably the 1/5th that don't hang up on the other calls. You know, finally someone that will talk them, even if they are robo. So between the risqué call and the normal call, you've got all 5 listening to you.

Also, old dudes? I don't think many of them would be hanging up on the risqué...

Ahh true. The horny old buggers would probably listen more intently than any other demographic because it's likely the only stimulation they've had in years. That and they don't understand how "dem internets" work.

Starkewolf said the message was originally intended to be a little provactive, but said "it got a little more enthusiasm from the staff person who is reading the script."

Perhaps an interesting combination of provocative and proactive?

Provactive, it's the new Mavrick.

Thompson's office released a statement on the robocall on Monday, calling it a "sophomoric and tasteless prank. As our nation deals with a financial crisis and two ongoing wars, it's incredible that someone would waste voters' time with this drivel." stupid annoying robocalls.

Are you kidding? There are several great advantages to parliamentary democracy, chief among them the viability of more than two parties, the ability to recall the executive, that voters must pay attention to, or seek change by whom they send to the legislature, not to mention the short and unscheduled nature of election campaigns. I wish we had it here.

It's hard to do election year pandering when you don't know when the election will take place.

ROBOCALLS?????
I expected a Robocop like bloke to arrive at the door and persuade me to vote for some GreenProgressiveChristianSocialistDemocratic Party freak. As it's NL, nothing is Risque. In fact wearing regular conservativeish clothes and talking seriously at length, is considered kinky

/probably, anyway

I like how Zane Starkewolf, a Republican, is accusing the incumbent Mike Thompson (D), of toeing the line with a republican Bush.

Sounds like the Republican party is eating its own.

Bah. I got this message on my home machine. I deleted it after the "Mike Thompson's been a bad boy" line, because I hate political ads, but I'll admit the tone of the woman's voice raised my eyebrow a few millimeters.

Just click that great big button accompanying the story, that starts the video. But your imagination is probably just as interesting as the real thing.
