BTW, for reasons that have nothing to do with anything sports related, I'd just like to take this moment to tell all the OSU fans that I no longer despise their team more than Michigan, as I have for the past decade.

That said, good luck on Saturday. I suspect both teams will need it.

If this past game was any indicator... as long as they play only one half instead of two, the Wolverines will roll. Travis Minor will also look Heisman-worthy.

Not really concerned about them for another 51 weeks, though... Buckeyes sorta dominating the field of vision.

There's no way the Wolverines are gonna beat the Spartans this year. This season it's cheer-worthy when the punt returner doesn't drop the ball.

An irrelevant player on an irrelevant team gives a guarantee after taking a 29 point beating. I'm sure their weasel of a coach approves.

Last year, Wyoming coach Joe Glenn guaranteed a win at Utah. The Utes ran the score up 50-0, then attempted an onsides kick. :)

Terlis: I think they are a PSU fan and are saying that OSU is the only thing on their radar atm...

Can you blame them? After next week, they've only got three games left, and Michigan State's the only team in that stretch that might pose a challenge (heavy emphasis on "might" after seeing how they played this weekend).

FortKnox: Guarantees do nothing but make your opponent more angry.

The Spartans have plenty of reason to be angry, and to be motivated to win this game. For a lot of players on that roster, this is the biggest game of the year. Even if Michigan doesn't see it that way, MSU's biggest rival always has and always will be the Wolverines.

I'll be at the game, but I don't think I can say anything to defend the Wolverines this year. Not the way they've been playing, at least - we see flashes of great football (fourth quarter Wisconsin and first quarter Penn State games), but nothing sustained for an entire game.

I just hope that Threet's able to play. I can't say anything about Justin Feagin since we haven't seen him on the field yet, but if Nick "more interceptions than touchdowns" Sheridan touches the ball, we're hosed.

Looking forward to Ohio State getting whipped for the second time this season against another top 5 team... Penn State. We usually have to wait until January to see Ohio State get pummeled. This year has a 2 for 1 deal.

Jesus, really? A guarantee? C'mon guys, go out and show us that you can beat frickin' TOLEDO before you do something stupid like guarantee a win against MSU. We've looked piss poor all year, and while I wouldn't call MSU a world beater, they've looked a hell of a lot better than we have, and they are hungry for this game. Don't be surprised if Dantonio runs up the score if he can.

I hate MSU as much as the next Wolverine (I was a student during the seven interception outing in '87 and the BS no-call when Desmond Howard was tripped in the endzone in '90; the "Spartan Bob" clock incident of 2001 was no treat either), but I gotta say, I'll be shocked if U-M beats MSU this year.

U-M is just not a good team this year, and MSU is definitely better than they have been in recent years. I hope that the U-M D can contain Ringer, who is a Heisman candidate for sure.

With that being said, GO BLUE!!!!

I mean, Threet's "impersonation" gave his team a lead at halftime before his elbow impeded him from playing. Maybe your were implying that Chad Henne never lost to Penn State in his career and therefore Threet was continuing this streak, but I assume you were not. I'm a little perplexed.

You guys are all surprised that a vocal leader of the Wolverines would guarantee a victory against a rival after being blown out the week before? Weren't you all the same thugs whining irrelevance last year when the same thing occurred? You know, Mike Hart's guarantee against Notre Dame after a shellacking against Oregon...

Given, ND was considerably worse than MSU is this year, I think everyone is aware of the Spartans' inability to win in Ann Arbor for 18 years. We might have a shiatty record, but if Threet plays the whole game (and so does Hoyer, for that matter) and Minor holds onto the ball again, we'll be alright.

Wouldn't a Chad Henne impression against PSU involve beating them?

Michigan does not have the players it needs to run RichRod's offense, it is that simple. Once we have those players we'll win the conference hands down. Next year we'll have Beaver or Forcier in as QB likely and an offensive line that actually has exprience, but of course the core of the defense will be gone. Even so I'm hoping for 8-4 or 7-5 next year. The year after that we should have more exprience starters and be a threat to win it all.

Of course if Richrod doesn't right the ship in his 4 years then I'll get the tar and feathers ready. Under Carr we made bowls and beat ranked teams, but we rarely won the major games (tOSU and our Bowl). Richrod was able to take WVU, put them on the map and win BCS games and so when I watch us choke away leads I try to cheer myself up with the belief that the program Richrod is going to build for us is going to win National Championships.

Sounds about right to me. I'm not thrilled that Rodriguez's offense requires players with certain skill sets to be run, but given that we lost most of our offensive starters, I'm willing to wait a few years to see how things work out once he's got his system and his recruits fully in place.

From the few successful drives we've seen, I've got faith that a spread offense is going to tear through the Big Ten. It's just a shame we don't actually have one yet.

But obviously, since this is Fark, compounded by the fact you are a Buckeye, I am aware that facts not completely in line with your reality need not apply.

Obviously patience is not a virtue embodied by football fans.

I mean seriously, we have been spoiled here at Michigan. We have always had good football teams. We have an incredible record of winning seasons and bowl games. And in general, it was never too tough to be a Michigan fan because there was always a team doing worse than us. Yeah there was heartbreak and missteps, but taken as a whole, we have had an amazing program.

Sure, I am pissed as hell right now, who wouldn't be. But are you really going to give up on a coach half-way through his first season with a team of kids he did not wholly recruit? If so, I am glad you aren't in charge.

Part of the pain of this year is one drive we just walk down the field, those early touchdowns against the Illini and the Nittany Lions, then the next drive Threet can't get the ball within 10 yards of his target. Or worse Threet gets injured and Sheridamnit comes in. Just having to sit there knowing we could win it if only we could throw decent passes is torture. I'm sure Woody is doing a little dance of glee right now.

As for the skilled players the way I look at it is under Carr we needed a certian kind of player. We needed a big, talk pocket passer. Sometimes this worked well (Chad Henne) other times we recruited poorly (Navarre). We also needed a power back and we also needed big a line (people like Jake Long). If we didn't get freaks of nature like Jake Long, I mean he dwarfs other linemen, or powerbacks we'd have been terrible under Carr's system. So far Richrod is recruiting well in terms of getting the needed type of QB, so no reason to panic about needing a given type of player.

It be gone now. It, um, was not nice to look at. Mothers shepherded their children behind them when they saw me coming, as I passed them I heard the little ones whimpering and asking their mothers what was wrong with that man. Some old lady gasped and fell out of her motorized wheelchair, I caused nightmares wherever I went.

Hurt like hell too. Not really overtly painful per se, but a low throbbing constant pain, not fun.

Glad you came out okay Woody. We need to alive and well for when the Michigan Men put 70 up the Buckeyes and then ritualistic burn the sweatervest at midfield [removing the vest from Tressel beforehand is optional]. Or so the delusions go.

In reality in honor the game I'm adopting 4 wolverines, one for each kid. I'll give them the plush toys and adoption papers right before the game. Then they can play with the toys while mommy and daddy drink themselves into a stupor to ease the pain that is likely to set in sometime before the 4th quarter.

A few of us Wolverine Farkers decided to out you. We post pictures in threads we know you'll show up in. Since all your posts are date stamped we can tell roughly when you were active in a thread. After that look at what IPs loaded the pictures slightly before the time of your post. After a dozen or so threads we were down to two IPs that was present at all those times, work IP and home IP. Hand those IPs over to a Wolverine who works for Homeland Security and we have a name. I ran the name through my military contacts and low and behold I found all about you being a 'Geronimo' all the way. Nice record.

We have you and a few other regulars outed. Phase II is getting strike teams in place to brand everything you own with block Ms or other photo worthy actions. On the plus side us Michgan Farkers will have some fun photos to post in upcoming football threads.

Stupid thing to say, but maybe he is trying to rally his locker room, who knows. Either way - no matter what the season all bets are off for that game. That's always the way it has been.

As a fan, and alum, I'm not too shocked the way this season has gone. Going in we were not supposed to win many games. Toledo, obviously, sucked, but we were supposed to get killed by Wisconsin and we got that one. Either way, this was a write off season from day one and while I would like to see some improvement, I don't fault Rich Rod.

The guy is starting 10 true freshman. The heart of the old offense is gone. He's got a QB that wouldn't start at any other Big 10 school, maybe not in most Divison 1 schools. Yes, he could have tried to mold to his players and maybe win a few more games using a mish-mash of old school Carr style and his spread, but for what? A few extra wins in a loser season?

As a fan I'd rather see him implement his system ASAP rather than to slowly work it in for the benefit of a couple meaningless wins. We'll hopefully get a QB next year that he can work with and his guys will be better. You look to WV and the turn around he did in one season there and it's inspriring. Once he gets more of his guys in there and the system settles I expect very good things from the boys in blue. Next year will be better (obviously, it can't be worse). I expect the 2010 season to be pretty damn good.

And for the rest of the Big 10, I suspect Penn will beat OSU this weekend, maybe not by a big margin, but they will win. They'll likely get into the BCS championship game and I hope they don't embarrass the Big 10 again on the national stage (yes, I'm looking at you Buckeyes). It would be nice to send out Joe Pa winner.
