Not to point out the obvious, but I only saw 8, not 10 methods.
2003-01-03 03:08:50 PM
Gatorade before you go to sleep. You need water, but you need electrolytes, too. And a swallow of something fatty like whole milk, or a piece of bread with a LOT of butter on it. IThe fat coats and protects your stomach lining (which WILL be irritated if you did the night up right).

Forgot? Well, for pete's sake, don't take Tylenol or any other acetaminophen (sp?) remedy. Take Asprin or ibuprofen. Acetaminophen and alcohol together can cause damage to your internal organs.

I have a license to drink. Don't try this at home. Use only as directed. May cause nausea and dizziness.

Is one of them the rhythm method? Cause let me tell you right now, it doesn't work.

I, too, am a certified professional drinker (license and bonding upon request). I can no longer pass out. I spill more than most people drink in one night.

I am boozehound. Hear me roar.

Is "Ten" Russian for "Eight"?
2003-01-03 03:40:39 PM
"Ten Methods..."

I see three American methods and eight Russian - am I missing something?

Also - my method - Drink Scotch (preferrably Dewar's) and water, you're re-hydrating while you're dehydrating and you'll never wake up with a hangover.

Best cure = Stop biatching and get down the bar for Sunday football watching and beer.
2003-01-03 03:57:18 PM
if you can cure it with a glass of water, your not a good drinker.....

after i wake up and crawl to my toilet, my body is shaking and my eyes tear from weakness, then i throw up, throw up some more, then convulse and heave over for a while longer, i then swallow down some pills, and sit in the shower while the water hits me....

a couple of puffs from a cig and 2 lines later your as good as new, but there is still a gut wrenching feeling when your around the same drink again, but this only lasts until you take a few more drinks

Learn from the masters:

Right, here's the plan. First, we go in there and get wrecked, then we eat a pork pie, then we drop some Surmontil-50's each. That way we'll miss out on Monday and come up smiling Tuesday morning.

Actually... The best hangover remedy of all is to just not allow the body to sober up in the first place. Stay drunk!
2003-01-03 04:08:56 PM
Definatly drink at least 1/2 gallon of water before bed if you are toatally wrecked. It would not be very wise to take painkillers like advil or tylenol while you are drunk, gastrointestinal bleeding and liver damage are very much accelerated. When you get up definaly take the maximum dosage though. I have never found anything to take the place of being able to go back to sleep for a couple of hours after doing the painkiller/water thing in the morning, even just an hour while that kicks in is priceless.
2003-01-03 04:13:52 PM
DO NOT take aspirin before bed. Yes, it might help ward off the hangover, but it is a very very bad thing to do to your liver, who currently has its hands full in dealing with the alcohol.

Drink water before bed. This goes a long way toward helping you.

When you wake up feeling like hell, club soda and/or Gatorade will help. If you can stand it, gulp some cold, salty tomato juice.

Go back to bed. Sleep is the only real cure.
2003-01-03 04:15:44 PM
Dang...that tomato juice sounds pretty good right now.

*me heads for the vending machines*
2003-01-03 04:19:21 PM
remember: never drink TOO much water. here's a water article from the the people.
2003-01-03 04:42:00 PM
There's no evidence that aspirin or ibuprofen will hurt your liver when you drink. Tylenol lobbied to get warning labels put on all pain relievers when it became clear that Tylenol and alcohol can cause liver damage, but there's no good evidence on liver damage being caused with by aspirin or ibuprofen.

I don't know what the story is on Aleve or the other naproxen-type pain relievers.

Sleep....sleep like you have never slept before. Don't go see Jackass the movie, just stay in bed and sleep!!!
2003-01-03 04:58:55 PM
God and baby Jeebus bless them Russians!
2003-01-03 05:44:25 PM
The reason the Russians can drink day in/day out, is that their vodka is sooooo pure and plentiful. A $2 bottle of Stoli will seriously wreck you for the night, but when you wake in the morning you feel fine. IMHO, their best remedy is drinking the pickle juice.
2003-01-03 05:55:30 PM a yorgut drink...ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!

I will drink a bloody mary instead!

Better yet, avoid a hangover altogether by smoking a "J"
2003-01-03 06:05:16 PM
7, 8....

Wait a minute! Whoever counted these must've run out of fingers before 8 and just made a rough estimate...
2003-01-03 06:25:41 PM
I've found that smoking a fattie first thing in the morning makes me feel better and helps me polish off all those pork chops.
2003-01-03 08:30:14 PM
Reading that thing from about the water, it doesn't seem like drinking too much water is a serious threat, considering that the alcohol is already dehradyting you like crazy. I'm guessing you have to drink a shiatload of water for it to harm you, because it seems that everybody's always advising people to drink more and more water.

Wow, it took more than 7 hours before Utopian finally came up with my favorite cure.
2003-01-03 09:02:31 PM
Gatorade, lotsa water and a berroca before you go to bed seem to work pretty well for me, failing that if you feel like absolute crap he next day, take a few lines of speed, this will give your body a massive kick, get your liver working double time, and u get a bit of a buzz at the same time too.
2003-01-04 04:02:22 AM
Drinking a ton of water before you go to bed can help but it also might make you leak all over whatever you happen to be sleeping on, whether it is a bed, a couch, the floor, or another person. Put two of the morning alka seltzer tabs into a medium sized bottle of gatorade and pound it, you will feel better halfway through the bottle.
2003-01-04 06:40:41 PM
Nightsweat, my friend is a doctor and he said that it's not worth the risk of taking Tylenol (HUGE NO NO), because the risk of liver damage is GREATLY increased. Aspirin is the same way, but not as damaging, but still not worth it. Water Vitamins and sleep, that is the best route. Take it from me, someone who can drink a liter+ of hard liquor at a time and not be hung over the next day. The alcohol sweat smell is another story though.
2003-01-04 06:42:17 PM
I know it's hard, but avoid coffee too. It is a diuretic (sp?) and will further dehydrate your body, making the hangover last longer.
