HEY! WHAT DO I SAY?

You're more likely to die in a car wreck driving to purchase lottery tickets than win the damn thing.

I see you can read. See yesterday's post:

Orken: "If you have to drive 10 miles to buy a lottery ticket, you are about 16 times more likely to get killed in a car crash on your way to buy the ticket than you are to win the Powerball jackpot"

"If you can hop up and down on a pogo stick, you're 83 times more likely to land on a pirahna that looks like Elvis than to win the powerball"

Who fuggin cares?! Does that guy suffer from some strange disease that renders him incapable of expressing a figure of probability with NUMBERS like everyone else? What's wrong with 1 in however many million?

Oh and stickerman, you're a moron and a tit. Quit wasting Drew's space and my oxygen.

This is so sad, i guess I just have better things to spend my dollar on.

Don't they have toilets in NY that they can flush their money down? It'd save that drive to Connecticut, at least. Wonder how many gallons of gasoline are being wasted driving long distances to throw away money on *The Impossible Dream*?

Hmm...the submitter must have been partly inspired by last nights' episode of "The Family Guy".Love that show...

That jackpot=mine!!!!I have the gods in my favor!

My apologies, Mr. Loaf.

my town is the stop before Greenwhich just on the New York side of the border. . . it's worthless to try and drive anywhere anymore.

Knitwit, how long would a train ride take from GCT?

Family Guy was right! New Yorker's ruin everything! Let's blow it up! Down with NY (or at least New York City.)

2001-08-24 10:18:13 AM
Strongbad, you're just jealous.

It takes roughly 45 minutes to get into CT from Grand Central via Metro North...that's right, isn't it Knitwit?

Jealous of what!>?!?!

Gwinny - I lived in NYC for 20+ years. It is by far the worst city in the world. Honestly.

2001-08-24 10:32:13 AM
Well, I've lived here 17 years (8 as a child, 9 as an adult) and I think it is by far the greatest city in the world. Honestly.

2001-08-24 10:39:32 AM
I just moved here. It's a hell of a lot better than Boston.

2001-08-24 11:44:00 AM
Oh really? What part is better? I love how no one take ownership of anything. Everything slowly deteriorates, getting dirtier each month. Maybe it is the hoards of neighborhood where +90% of the people are on welfare. You must love how everyone is so friendly with the people they encounter each day.

I never said Boston was the best city. But I do think it is better than NYC.

I have met lots of people who love NYC. So, maybe it just isn't the city I was supposed to live in. Maybe you can help me understand what is so great about it? What is so unique about NYC that people would put up with such negativity?

I don't think that NYC is filled with bad people. Instead, everyone thinks everyone else is crazy, so they walk around with blinders on. What am I missing?

2001-08-24 01:30:44 PM
StrongBad: clearly, you're missing a lot. Yes, I think it's just you. Everyone I know who lives here is happy, doesn't think everyone else is crazy, cares about the city, etc.

I'm not about to get into a pissing match about "my city is better than your city" etc. -- and actually, I rather like Boston myself -- but I found it ironic that one of the things you would complain about in your highly negative comments was the negativity of the people who live in NYC.

2001-08-24 02:05:06 PM
I don't want to get in a pissing contest either. I really wish I could understand what is so great about NYC. All of my family lives there and they will never leave.

You say that I am missing a lot. Can you give me some examples? Everyone always lists the obvious: "Arts!" Broadway, clubs, gallery's. For the majority of people, these are nice, but not the center of you life. What else?

Maybe we are comparing apples and oranges.
