If only they'd actually show up and vote for Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin, I'd be happy about it.

Instead, they will stay home, and just sulk.

And that will be bad for democracy.

If this was linked directly to AP, you would see THEIR poll shows Obama's lead down to 44-42. Granted, it is buried on the 6th page, but, it is there.

Actually, what you are referring to is not a horse-race type poll (new window). AP uses a separate agency for that.

Funny, the latest Gallup shows it's Obama 49%, McCain 47%, of likely voters.

Despite the trolling AP headline, what their DATA shows is that it is Obama over McCain 44 percent to 42 percent, within the margin of error. Granted, Obama is ahead, but their headline and story makes it appear to be a 15 point Obama blow out.

The only way us small government Republicans are going to get any voice back in the party is to screw the party over in an election. Walk away and vote third party.

Third parties don't often win major elections but they do force the major parties to adopt their platforms.

How long until Obama gets assassinated?

\my vote, within first year

Pacfanweb: Funny, the latest Gallup shows it's Obama 49%, McCain 47%, of likely voters.

The media has a vested interest in "keeping it close". Which as a Barack Obama supporter is perfectly fine with me.

The closer it is the more likely it is that people will actually turn out at the polls, and if that happens then it's just a pure numbers game since the Democrats have about 10% more registered voters than the Republicans this year.

One of the big factors in this upcoming GOP slaughter is going to be the fact that they were unable to successfully reach out to Hispanics other than the Castro hating Cubans in Florida. It's odd actually since most of these hispanics are devoutly religious and hold similar moral values, also John McCain's immigration platform (well before he had to torpedo it to appease his "base") would have plaid well with many of them.

I guess what it boils down to is that the xenophobic/racist element of the GOP is certainly going to cost them the election, but not in the way that everyone seems to be assuming right now.

2008-10-17 05:07:30 PM
McCain still attacks Obama's policy and plan but doesn't talk about his own. All he says is "my plan is better" or "I will cut your taxes". That doesn't show voters ANYTHING.

2008-10-17 05:07:51 PM
The only problem is that there is little to no name recognition out there for Bob Barr. I try talking him up on local discussion boards and I find a bunch of people saying "Oh, I never heard of him" even though they'd be the type of folks who'd consider his platform.

If he had the money for advertising and getting his message out I bet he'd take at least 10%.

/Go Barr!

Pacfanweb: Funny, the latest Gallup shows it's Obama 49%, McCain 47%, of likely voters.

That's only one of three versions of the Gallup tracker, and those particular numbers are based on 2004 turnout. Gallup LV I held flat today, and was covered by Nate the first time Drudge had it up. Defections from the GOP makes it extremely unlikely that we will see a party breakdown similar to the last general election.

But feel free to continue cherry-picking polls.

This site combines and gives a running, appropriately weighted average of all of the polls. The result: Obama +6.6, chance of winning if held today: 94.7%
