This is posted why?

2003-01-02 06:00:09 PM
The headline's inaccurate; professional wrestling made the list too. And don't you dare call that a sport...

2003-01-02 09:27:33 PM
SpongeBob... that a gay thing?

2003-01-02 09:29:09 PM
Somehow it seems fitting. On the one hand, you've got a cartoon about a sponge. On the other hand, you've got football...usually enjoyed by beer-swilling wifebeaters with all the intelligence of a sponge.

Before the flames start, notice I said usually - there are exceptions to every rule.

I am shocked, shocked, that Sarah from the Food Channel didn't make it...

2003-01-02 09:29:42 PM
Why the hell is this posted?

It's list is always the same.

Football, wrestling, Spongebob and some Lifetime movie. Every week.

I call bullshiat on this list. Was anything else on?

for the week of Dec. 23-29

Ahh yes, my tivo hardly recorded anything that week. No Farscape, no Stargate, no Sopranos, no Curb Your Enthusiam, no Shield, no Wire. Where have all the good shows gone? Long time passing.

Oh well, at least it isn't Rocket Power.

Pardon my pop culture ignorance, but what the hell is a Sponge Bob??

2003-01-02 09:33:37 PM
Its an odd form of voyeurism. "I like to know what other people are watching. I'm fascinated by it! Can you think of ANYTHING more exciting! OOoooOOOooh"

It's a thing all the homosexuals rally to.

Watch Sponge Bob Squarepants, hilarity will ensue.

(Creepy voice) So, young man.... Are you a SpongeBob or a stone?

Can you look at those ratings and honestly wonder why Bush is President?

BTW I bet he's a SpongeBob fan too!

Spongebob Sqarepants fark Yeah!

Quinch:

Spongebob is a children's television program that is kind of like Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy of old. It is funny, and it is a "gay" thing as about 80% of the show is spent between a sponge and his "buddy", a pink starfish. There are occasional jokes geared towards adults, the episode of about shoe tying started with Spongebob watching coral pr0n, so it is occasionally humourous.

I bet his advisors explain their foreign policy goals to him using Spongebob puppets...

2003-01-02 09:39:31 PM
I can't stand Spongebob. I tried to watch it once but turned it off out of utter disgust at what Nickelodeon has become.

2003-01-02 09:40:08 PM
Oh my god, his 'friend' is a pink starfish? Such perversion!

2003-01-02 09:40:47 PM

2003-01-02 09:41:40 PM
If SpongeBob also gets a friend who's a pink snake with a purple head who likes to spit milk everywhere, then I'll be watching avidly...

2003-01-02 09:44:00 PM
Actually watching SpongeBob is on the recruitment form, right after Judy Garland and/or Liza Minelli and before Barbra Streisand.

To be honest, I've only seen it once or twice. I'd rather watch pr0n.

2003-01-02 09:46:46 PM
why the fark is sponebob so farking popular? is seems like everyone and their mother has a spongebob shirt/underwear. the emo wannabees eat that shiat up for some reason.

2003-01-02 09:50:36 PM
SpongeBob is utter foolishness.

That's why I think it's funny.

2003-01-02 09:51:36 PM
why was the tampa bay game top rated? that was the worst win i've ever seen the bus get. 4 quarters and nothing but field goals. sad, i tells ya.

2003-01-02 09:51:39 PM
Pink starfish? I thought it was brown. I've really got to adjust the color on my set.

2003-01-02 09:59:01 PM
Yeah, Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents and Sunday Night Football slowly edged all the WWF/WWE stuff off the top ten here in Milwaukee.

2003-01-02 09:59:42 PM
It'd better be pink. Brown isn't quite to my... taste.

2003-01-02 10:01:18 PM
Oops, sorry, it was all the dust on the TV screen.

2003-01-02 10:09:29 PM
Theflyingdutchman

don't even compare spongebob too ren and stimpy. that is just blasphemy.

2003-01-02 10:09:35 PM
where's adult swim?

2003-01-02 10:12:55 PM
SpongeBob Squarepants and Invader Zim (clearly snubbed in this list : ) are some of the best toons in recent history. Fairly Odd Parents is actually not bad either. I'm a little surprised that, after being on for 10 years, Rugrats still gets a nod in this Nielsens. I get to see all these things with my daughter. At least I can like some of them.

I would like to know what they considered "Basic" cable. Does it include SciFi for example?

[Produces a large pickle]

2003-01-02 10:16:07 PM
Four years ago WWF (I will not call it WWE) Raw would have been number one on this list and nothing else would have been close to touching it.

Which goes to show that even the real fans are switching off.

the genius John K. created spongebob? that just totally goes against his ethics.

2003-01-02 10:35:40 PM
Fft.

I was a devout Ren and Stimpy/Rockos Modern Life fan. The day Sponge Bob went on the air, I said "PAH! It shall never be as good as its predecessors! Who can forget such moments as Ren and Stimpy's 'Nurse Ren' and Rocko's board game, 'Spank the Monkey'?" I refused to watch this supposed travesty of a show. Until last week when my sister got a sponge bob DVD. This show, with the exception of some episodes, is brilliant. Never will be good as the afforementioned shows though. And Rugrats is a piece of shiat that, quite frankly, does NOT deserve its popularity. It was tolerable in the first few seasons, but popularity definitely went to the production teams' heads.

2003-01-02 10:35:48 PM
I expected SpongeBob SquarePants to be stupid, as well, but it's truly an excellent show. Nothing beats a megalomaniacal plankton in comedy value, except possibly a psychotic robot made from garbage.

2003-01-02 10:41:18 PM
1-6 straight men and hot women.

6-15 gays and ugly women who don't watch sports and can't get a man.

I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

2003-01-02 10:41:32 PM
Spongebob kicks ass!11 Rocko's Modern Life needs to come back to my TV. The channel with Rocko may have just been added to my digital cable yesterday. I got rid of digital cable 3 days ago. fark you.

FUN FACT!: The creator of Spongebob was a writer for Rocko's Modern Life.

2003-01-02 10:43:29 PM
Tempyst:

The first couple seasons of Rugrats kicked ass (before it was temporairaly cancelld; i'm aware of my spelling).

2003-01-02 10:49:30 PM
Rocko's Modern Life is still running on NickToons (they also have Ahhhh! Real Monsters and Ren & Stimpy). Comes on in the middle of the night.

2003-01-02 10:52:34 PM
I liked Darkwing Duck myself. They still air that anywhere?

2003-01-02 10:54:31 PM
I don't really care for the Character of Spongebob himself but the Show can be Total Idiocy at times so it's sometimes neat to watch.

Actually Mr. Squidward as the Cranky Old Hoot gives me more laughs, probably 'cause I'm a Cranky Old Hoot.

The Moron Level of Patrick is at times Side Splitting!

As far as it being a "Gay" cartoon, I don't see it, after all Spongebob does have something of a "Girlfriend" in that Squirrel in the Diving Suit.

Hell, it's a Kids Cartoon, almost Completely Harmless.
