I'm sure my grandkids will enjoy Duke Nukem Forever when it comes out. Sadly I'm 21 right now.

"Both new machines and a new operating system were promised. Suffice it to say, neither are readily available."

they should license and ship it with XP.

(this should get fun)

2003-01-02 04:34:20 PM
Who needs duke nukem forever when we have the original side scrolling goodness of duke nukem and duke nukem II!

2003-01-02 04:34:38 PM
"I remember that they announced this game when I was in the eighth grade!" wrote Ian Huggins. "I'm bloody in college now. What is this?"

Bloody in college? Must be the School of Hard Knocks.

2003-01-02 04:34:51 PM
They forgot Diablo II patch v1.10.

2003-01-02 04:37:11 PM
So when is the GeForce FX coming out? My Geforce4 Ti 4600 is an ancient 6 months old...sigh....

I hate this industry sometimes....

2003-01-02 04:37:28 PM

2003-01-02 04:39:07 PM
Absolutben I see you!

2003-01-02 04:39:24 PM
They should have added the 3rd Lord of the Rings movie to this.

2003-01-02 04:40:13 PM
Absolutben:
If you can see my post, then, yes, I can see yours too, hehe.

My favorite beer is Guinness, and I'm in California. :)

2003-01-02 04:42:42 PM
I can wait for Duke Nukem for foever. It was a tired game after the first one.

And excuse my Apple ignorance, but when did they come out with a new OS? I just spent 4 months learning QuarkXpress on a Mac.

2003-01-02 04:42:46 PM
A Guiness for Maveno then, thanks. Skinink gets one as well. I was banned for a while where I could read my and everyone else's posts but no one could see me.

2003-01-02 04:43:22 PM
What? .NET Server wasn't on the list? Prime M$ flamming right there!

2003-01-02 04:44:08 PM
If a post on the comment thingee falls in the woods, and there is no one there to see it, is it really on the comment thingee page, or something?

2003-01-02 04:44:44 PM
Where's Bluetooth, it's been on that list for the last five years, I'd hate to break with tradition.

2003-01-02 04:44:58 PM
Holyoak There's gonna be a third??? Hollywood must be out of ideas.

2003-01-02 04:47:38 PM
yeah, a .NET Server seems a remarkable blind spot to have on such a list.

2003-01-02 04:48:15 PM
Gak why does a super-hip plugged-in publication like Wired have a flashing banner ad?

2003-01-02 04:49:24 PM
I remember back when I was a kid, we were told Duke Nukem Forever would be done 'when it was done' and we LIKED it. We'd look at screenshots done with the Unreal engine and we were just fine with that too. Now all this newfangled getting impatient and Quake 3 engine wallymcdoodle. Why...I used to walk 5 miles, in the snow, uphill with rabid dogs chasing me the whole way to the magazine store just to see the latest article about Duke Nukem Forever being delayed. Now all you yungins get on your 'internet' like a bunch of pansies and think you've got it rough. BOOHOO!! I'd cry for ya but my tear ducts went dry waitin' for world peace and Battlecruiser3k.

Alton
I hope you're making a funny. OSX has been shipping on EVERY mac for about 2 years now. I'm sure that apple.com will have more than enough info on it to disgust you.

Also, am I the only one here who noticed that the word 'vaporware' seems to have really changed meanings? It used to mean a product that was more or less bogus, based on some crazy 'revolutionary' idea, that was created, more or less, to lure venture capitalists into the tech web. Now, it means, i'm guessing, 'a video game that's behind schedule?'

Whatever.

2003-01-02 04:52:35 PM
team fortress 2, anyone?

2003-01-02 04:54:39 PM
Someone forgot "Prey"

2003-01-02 04:55:23 PM
Who needs Duke Nukem?

2003-01-02 04:55:43 PM
Is there ever going to be a Half-Life 2? Or did it come out already and I missed it?

2003-01-02 04:57:15 PM
Same company that "created" Prey also "created" Duke Nukem Forver. I find that amusing. KMFDM was supposed to do the sound track for Prey, I wonder if they will move the songs to DKF.

2003-01-02 04:58:23 PM
Tiberian Twilight, anybody?

Hell, C&C Generals began later and it's already well into beta testing.

2003-01-02 04:59:21 PM
Jinxed,

Don't think KMFDM will be doing any soundtracks anymore, since they disbanded... or did they reband? Is reband a word? Well it oughta be!

2003-01-02 04:59:26 PM
anyone remember Bitboys?

2003-01-02 05:03:07 PM
GoodyearPimp: I was actually wondering about that a few weeks ago... I thought I remembered them hyping it up as a "Quake-killer" about the same time Unreal (not UT) was announced.

The term "vaporware" still applies to its original definition. Rune Conquest anyone? Or "Dawn" for that matter?

2003-01-02 05:04:15 PM
Lord_Dubu, They "rebanded" with new people.

I have their new cd, and it is not bad except for one or two songs. KMFDM website has a quicktime of one of the songs from their most recent album and alot of other band stuff.

2003-01-02 05:04:41 PM
Monkeypants
Gak why does a super-hip plugged-in publication like Wired have a flashing banner ad?

I hate that damn add. Burns my retinas.
Every time I see it, I block images from server and reload.

2003-01-02 05:05:39 PM
blah. get a life outside the basement

2003-01-02 05:08:25 PM
Couple things:
-KMFDM became MDFMK so they could get out of a shiatty contract. That was the last I had heard.
-Vaporware simply means promised software that never seems to come about. The delay process on some of these games seems to make them vaporware even though they will be out someday. #10 was real vaporware. #1 is merely a quite delayed game.
-I remeber being in high school and talking about Duke Nukem however no one I remember was too excited about it. Poorly pixellated boobies don't really psych me up.

2003-01-02 05:09:07 PM
Lord_Dubu: En Esch left, not liking the direction the band was going, formed Slick Idiot. KMFDM deformed, became MDFMK. Reformed as KMFDM for Attak, minus En Esch, plus Skold. Their style changed from fun to purely angsty. I prefer Slick Idiot now...

Ah, the Amiga...

I have a nutty friend who still has his Amiga 1000, and refuses to either throw it away or buy it a power supply so it will (presumably) run. He keeps sending me articles about the so-called "rebirth" of the machine that ran the FX for early ST:TNG and B-5, but I put greater stock in Jesus' second coming than that of this former Commodore product.

He did break down and buy an e-machine running Linux in the meantime, which is probably an almost adequate stand-in.

2003-01-02 05:09:21 PM
I can't believe they forgot something else, Pro Tools for OSX. People have been waiting for that just as long as Xpress. Ahahahaha..... never going to happen. Stupid Digidesign.

2003-01-02 05:09:21 PM
OK - I'm a Solaris guy and as such I'm pretty obligated to despise MS, but I think that the list is just a tad focused on Mac OS X.

Don't get me wrong, its a cool OS. (Mostly because of its Berkley roots - hehe get it - root... anyway) but it just is such a tiny market its hardly worth mentioning.

2003-01-02 05:09:29 PM
#10 is this neato digital converter for analog 35mm cameras... i wrote that company 2 years ago about this!

anyone else know of where to get something like that? ive been looking forever.

2003-01-02 05:10:51 PM
"Counterstrike: Condition Zero" got left out.

Does anybody play CS anymore?

2003-01-02 05:11:04 PM
Astetiks OMG! Wolfenstein! I've lost years of my life with that game. l.o.v.e.

When I finally conquered the whole game (ALL levels), I nearly cried.

2003-01-02 05:11:48 PM
Decaf333... no offense meant, but the market for OSX users is sure a lot bigger than Solaris users.

2003-01-02 05:12:30 PM
With that said, MoO3 has in fact, gone Gold and will be stores January 14th, according to Gamespy.

This time, I am in fact holding my breath. Check back with me in a fortnight.

I would have awarded Freedom Ridge/X-Com: Aftermath a spot.

TheyCallThisWork, no, I said I was Apple ignorant. Five months ago was the first time I came near an Apple. Now I wonder what type Mac my school is using.

But thanks for the info and link.

2003-01-02 05:16:04 PM
This list proves I'm getting old and work too much. I have no idea what any of this crap is, nor do I care.

That Silicon Film thing would actually be cool for those of us who already have tons of money invested in film SLRs and lenses.

2003-01-02 05:17:51 PM
I can't wait until Doom 3.

2003-01-02 05:18:28 PM
People who wait around and get all worked up over impending software releases should really go outside a bit more and interact with humans.

Maybe even try and "interface" with a member of the opposite sex or something.
