Funny, the WWF looked less fake in 1988 than it did in 1998. Maybe if you went back to making matches look like wrestling instead of soap operas, we'd watch again. Or maybe thanks to MMA offering real bouts of violence, you're staring at a similar path to boxing.

I stopped watching when every time some "unexpected" wrestler shows up, his music and pyrotechnics are coincidentally on hand for the big surprise entrance.

Plus too many wrestlers have died.

Has nothing to do with the fact WWE programming is rated as "PG" now and can't actually get away with anything anymore that made WWE a superior product during the Monday night wars.

I really don't understand why, in an effort to look more like the Japanese style like this claims, they hired a guy who primarily wrestled in Mexico to coach it.

They had guys who worked a snugger, more realistic style, who had experience in training. They also released 'em.

Wait, wrestling is fake?

More realistic? Axe the vampire, the dead guy, that boogy man guy, any and all other fantasy based characters (golddust ftw?), then uh, take out all the soap opera writing and just schedule legitimate matches? And make the Divas legit. too. I farking hate the Divas.

Admittedly, since they have to pass the production desk at the Gorilla Position right behind the curtain, even in the storyline there could be a WWE employee radioing the truck saying "HOLY FARK, AUSTIN IS HERE! PLAY HIS MUSIC!"

Want to know how I cured myself of the WWE?
First In Canaduh, TSN(The shiat Network) Moves RAW onto a paid station of it's own. Then lately, the CW loses SmackDown to a new network. .

Finally cured.......

And it being PG now really stinks. The little bit of ECW that I watched after the change to film it with SmackDowns child audience really made it crap as well. ECW is meant for a small stadium.

Now excuse me while I go pi the wife to the bed and give her a 'Shocker'....Fans of Matt Hardy know what I means...But his girlfriend must be really lose, the way he shows it...

Those are totally correct suggestions, but the Undertaker was always my favorite. Probably about time for him to retire, anyway.

After all these years, they're finally going to address the issue of why, when a man is thrown in the general direction of the ropes, he will run to the ropes, hit the ropes with his back, and then bounce off running the other way?

/Damn thing ruined my sense of physics for years.

1998 was the beginning of the ratings takeoff of pro wrestling and mma doesn't even begin to compare to those ratings.

The only thing real to happen in wrestling recently was Chris Benoit's brain injuries and him killing his family and himself as a result.

When WWE went into HD programming earlier this year the wrestlers were told to work closer to not reveal the unrealistic moves.

LOL, that's it Vince, blame HD on the blatant fakery.

Granted, I haven't watched in several years (no longer with WWE-addicted BF), but back when you had these old, out-of-shape hacks like Hogan "winning" time and time again against younger, more athletic guys, that pretty much killed any attempt at "realism."

Though I think Mick Foley would agree all the injuries he sustained over his career were pretty farking real.

I remember when the Saskatchewan Roughriders had WWF Wrestling the afternoon before a football game. It was pretty funny.

I can't remember who was fighting, but one guy got thrown at the ropes and bounced back. The other wrestler took a flying two-footed kick at him and was short by about three feet. The "victim" still stopped and went backwards into the ropes. The crowd thought that was hilarious.

Best part was Mr. Fuji strangling a guy with his cane and then bowing to the crowd after they cheered him.

If you're going to make the WWE more real, the only Diva left is going to be Maria.

WWE's problem is that their storylines aren't so great anymore and they keep repeating the same old storylines that worked well in the past. Also, none of their current stars have the momentum The Rock and Steve Austin had.

Quite simply, bring back originality to WWE, start farming some exciting talent, revamp the moves, and stop using SuperStars like Rock and Austin as crutches.

2008-10-12 11:20:42 PM
Well, quit letting your daughter write storylines.

Probably shouldn't have let her boink that roid monkey, either. Ever since, he's been World Champ, what, 500 times?

/should officially change their name from WWE to HHH
//HHH sucks

2008-10-12 11:27:19 PM
Vince needs to stop being a proud poppa and remove his daughter from the booker position. She knows nothing about the biz, and because of that, he's soured the child that does know about the biz from wanting to take over the part that he should.

Before his current title run he went without a title for quite some time. Much longer than say John farkING Cena...and he isn't farking any of the McMahons...he may have blown Vince once but I mean..that only gets you an IC title run. (or US)

I went to WWE live in Reno last night. The best entertainment of the night was watching Kelly Kelly try to back out of her parking spot. She nearly hit annother car. It took her a couple of trys to get the car out too. Women may have a nice ass but she can't drive worth crap.

I'm sorry, but I've watched this years Wrestlemania on both standard and blue-ray DVD and there is NO difference at all. HD WWE is about as fake as...well, WWE.

2008-10-13 01:31:40 AM
Televised wrastlin can cover the pulled punches with quick change camera angles.IF your at a live event though, you can see them talking to each other, pulling punches, helping one another with moves yada, yada, yada.

The problem with WWE right now is that none of the titles mean anything. The WWE title is permanently attached to HHH. The World Heavyweight Title is chased by the same three or four guys. The IC title is on a comic relief wrestler. The US Champion has been beaten twice (in non title matches) now by a n00b who best move is a flying spinning something or other that doesn't really make any contact. The Tag Team title is worthless since there are three real tag teams.

Perhaps people would take it a little more seriously if they would fix those problems.

I watched wrestling only for an 18 month or so period my freshman year in high school. This was 1998-2000ish.

From what I've heard about wrestling since then, I think I caught the peak of WWE's win.

Maybe. It was the beginning of the HHH/Stephanie stuff. In any case 18 months was as long as it could hold my attention, just plain got bored.

2008-10-13 01:48:53 AM
Actually, might have been later (2000-02) because I clearly remember the APA (new window) and when Trish Stratus (new window) was new.

WWe is going through the same thing that WCW had happen. None of the old brand will put people over.

Triple HUH never puts ANYONE over, EVER. He's worse than Hogan ever was. Anytime someone has a match againts Triple HUH, he'll take about 6 punches from the other guy then Triple HUHgoes back to smashing his head in for another 5 minutes. It's crap. Vince needs to step in and make some of the old heads put some guys over.

And John Cena and Batista aren't very entertaining to watch at all, its the same match. *Go face to face talk smack*, *shoulder blocks all around*, *boring finish. Garbage.

Let some of the talent work their own gimicks, guys like Cryme Tyme did and they're getting over, they just need a decent push, oh wait, too bad theres only 4 guys in the tag team division.

BTW Most Entertaining Wrestlers (In or Outside the ring)
The Rock
Steve Austin
Ric Flair
Shawn Michaels
Chris Jericho
Tajeri
Rob Van Damn
Sabu
Scott Hall
