She's hot, looks rather sunny. Would love to take scattered showers with her in the mornings.

Ugh. How farking awkward was that?

I farking hate public proposals because it's just attention whoring. It also puts her on the spot and if it were me I'd be seriously pissed about that.

Usually, a man would never take such a risk unless he was sure of the answer.

Remember guys, always ask her when she can't possibly say no

Then right after, he punched her in the ovaries.

Don't need a weatherman to know which way the anchorwoman blows.

I'm not gonna bother with cynicism. This was awesome.

Here (new window) it is. The best part is the announcer right before the rejection.

And the other newscasters with the color commentary.

That was so sweet, I think I caught diabetes just watching that clip.

A weatherman? Clearly this is just a front for Ayers and Obama to destroy America!

2008-10-11 03:52:49 PM
That is quite possibly the worst proposal of all time:

Guy: "I was wanting to know if, uh, you might want to marry me. How about that?"

Girl: "Yes!"

Guy: "Are you sure? You haven't accepted it yet, you can still reject"

Horrible.

You're a cynic. Go outside and enjoy some sunshine. He obviously knows her well after 2.5 years of dating and knew she'd say yes.

My sappy side thought it was sweet.

I loved the fact that they had worked up a backdrop for him, that you see very briefly when they pan over to him.

Engaged? Married? Honeymoon? Kids? L(

As on-air proposals go, that was a good one.

2008-10-11 06:30:27 PM
Notice how she wouldn't stand up to hug him? In my mind she wasn't wearing anything under the desk.

I like how the proposal was done in the TV News voice. They'll have annoying kids.

That's not real, it was a prank set up by the basketball team.

How awful. I think public proposals are vulgar and tacky. I'd love to hear someone say "no."

And why don't people break up in public, or tell their SO they want a divorce? Can you imagine: some guy gets up in a restaurant, clinks his glass and says "Ladies and gentlemen, for the last 7 years I've been married to this woman. It started out well, but the last two years have been torture. Counseling hasn't helped. I can't stand living with her. In fact, I've been having an affair with my secretary. [Turns to girlfriend] Mary Jane, I'm leaving you."

Pause.

Applause?

I swear there was an article on Fark some time back that said self-deprecating men (a la Hugh Grant in any of his movies) is the way to go...

I saw a guy propose to his girlfriend on the top of his racecar. He fastened the "question" to the top of his car before the start of the race, and then arranged with the track to do a parade lap all by himself. His girlfriend was at first oblivious, then stunned and then ran down to hug him and accept.

Right... does anyone propose in public without realizing how unfair it is to put someone on the spot like that?

Only a complete moran could.

2008-10-11 06:55:44 PM
I saw what I assume was a public "No" once. I was working at a nightclub and this guy took over the mike and proposed, except we never heard from the girl. 'Cause I was in the kitchen, I also know we ate their special order dessert next morning! Yum yum!

Here's another one. Looks real. If people insist on making intimate moments public, they deserve what's coming to them.

It's still usually men who propose, but a couple of years ago there was a short Israeli film made about a radio host who proposes to her boyfriend on-air. He not only turns her down, he breaks up with her.

The character, by the way, hosted a show in which she gave relationship advice.

Public proposal = Douchebag

You're a Double Douchebag if it's at a sporting event (especially if you're the raving fan and she is not.)

The part where the players are stifling their laughter afterward is also priceless. Not to mention, getting your broken hearted self escorted off the court by a Big Grey Teddy Bear can't have been too humiliating, eh?
