NikolaiFarkoff: Artist's rendering, not from Buick

Check out the actual from a spy photo linked to in the article -- still looks pretty damn close to the real thing to me!

The biggest design departure from previous Buicks are the portholes. Yup, the "go-faster" holes have been relocated from the front quarter-panels onto the hood, nestled in a sharp inset crease.

Heh. I can see it now. Relocated go-faster holes are suddenly going to start appearing on hoods of everything from Mitsubishis to Hondas. But, since they're harder to see on the hood, they'll get BIGGER ;)

It may look good now but in 10 years I will be seeing Urban youth drive these things around with spinners, silver(door, trunk and hood)trim, and shiny silver stickers of the Buick Emblem that take up the entire back window and BUICK in big letters across the side.

They love them some used buicks.

As full sized sedans go, the Lacrosse has never been terribly bad looking, but once again, GM is failing to realize that the Caprice Classic market is effectively dead.

So where will it be made? Canada or Mexico?

While this is an obvious attention-whoring threadjack, I gotta say I'm impressed with the way you use makeup and streaks to make it come out looking natural.

In all fairness all markets are dead right now.

Very sharp. The ass end is reminiscent of the Lexus LS. A step in the right direction styling-wise for GM.

Now, what about the reliability? It is a GM afterall.

2008-10-08 01:01:02 PM
This is GM we're talking about here, the car is going to blow when it hits.

Tasteful metal trims in the concept will give way to cheap, shiny plastics. Interior will share parts with the $15k rental car bin. Eighteen inch wheels that once gave the car proportion and stance will be replace with sixteen inch steel wheels with cheap, shiny covers. All for more money than a similarly equipped Camry or Accord. It will be Not Quite as Good as Average, once again.

Hey, at least they're ripping off good looking cars now. That's a major step in the right direction.

Oooh, some slightly different styling cues slapped on a Chevy Malibu - or is it a Saturn Aura? Keep on making 5 different versions of the same car, GM, it really seems to work out well for you.

All the American (nice tax dollar give away, BTW ... anybody notice?) auto makers can polish a turd. However, when it comes to reliability, they are still in last place.

/I'll keep my reliable Toyota, thank you

Well...it looks like pretty much every other car produced over the last 15 years.

No. Rules of aerodynamics mean everything ends up looking the same.

Anyway, the LaCrosse is appearing a year earlier in Europe, as the Vauxhall/Opel Insignia.

But don't feel bad that America gets sloppy seconds.

Wrong. Buick is towards the top in reliability. Pick another rationale.

Typical GM.

Pxtl: Pasty is the new tan.

Wasn't really meant as an attention whore thing. Just saw the words "blue-hairs" and I couldn't resist. Chalk it up to my relative thinking style.

I've been told before that I'm probably the only person on this planet that can pull off Electric Blue hair as "natural" and am inclined to agree. It suits me.

To achieve the multi-faceted color is not difficult. After bleaching, I apply Manic Panic's After Midnight Blue mixed with a colorless conditioner. The mixture naturally colors hairs in kind of a streaky fashion. There's the issue of yellow tones in the hair turning blue to greenish. I counteract this with Shimmer Lights Shampoo, a shampoo designed for women with gray or white hair to counteract yellow tones by depositing the color opposite to yellow on the color wheel (purple). Then, I put on gloves and condition my hair with a weaker Manic Panic/conditioner solution every shower. It's a pain, but if you're going to do it, you gotta do it right.

There you have it. More than you ever wanted to know about hair chemistry and color balancing.

scarmig: "Goddess"?

Hurm.

Concur.

*blush* Thanks!

I have to say, though, that the "Goddess" portion of my screen name can sometimes be misleading to others in that it projects a narcissistic image. It's just something I was called back in college because I was known for wearing t-shirts and sandals in the winter time, and I rarely wear a coat unless I'm going to be outside for a length of time. I have a superhuman tolerance to cold weather, though since I've dropped a bunch of weight, that "superpower" has been reduced to mere "demi-goddess" level.

Hagbardr: BIE?

I don't think I've been neglecting you that bad, dear. If I recall correctly, you're the one who fell asleep on me last night! >:P~~

Usually, not always. The Enclave has been a disaster.

Buick and Cadillac are the only two GM lines I would even consider.

The styling is getting better though.

Obviously you can't really tell from some pictures/mock-ups, but it looks very short. My mom has a LaCrosse right now (whatever it is called in Canada, its the same car though) and even with the seat all the way down, my head hits the roof. I'm a hair over 6 feet, so tall, but not insanely so. It could just be because the windows are more slender, but this model looks like I'd need a sunroof to stick my head out of in order to drive.

How long does it stay blue? I've so been wanting to do the blue hair thing but I don't know how long it lasts.

Remarkable_Anus: How long does it stay blue? I've so been wanting to do the blue hair thing but I don't know how long it lasts.

Every 6-8 weeks you need to bleach your roots and reapply the Manic Panic. In between, use a mixture of Manic Panic and conditioner after every shampooing, using gloves to apply it, and let it sit for a few minutes before washing it out.

Tilex is good for getting the blue out of the tile grout.

*cough* how many threads is this pic in right now? Still, after putting that much work in, I can see why you'd AW it.

And actually, I was referring to the way you use makeup to work with the blue hair. It's quite an effect.

I don't have access to photo hosting from work (stupid WebSense), so this pic is the only decent one I had to put up in the weight-loss thread (I grabbed the link from right-clicking picture properties from my profile). *blush* Again, really didn't want to come off the way it did...

The makeup? I don't always go that punky/gothy, but whatever I wear and my accessories and makeup I make sure to compliment the hair. Otherwise, it just doesn't look right. Glad to see my attention to detail is noticed. Thank you. ^_^

MKS and new Mazda6 called, they want their design back. (MKS Nose/front)

When Buick introduced the Lacrosse, at first I thought the commercials were for a Lexus. The design fit...apparently I was the only person to see it though.
