You know my granny commited suicide in the intense heat, she looked so peaceful... when I pulled her from the open oven door.

I try to spend my summers in Margaritaville.

You mean I have to wait until July to stick a 9mm in my mouth? Damn!

"I'm going to kill myself because I'm not super-thin like the fashio models and don't have the big titties that the boys look at, and I don't look as good as the rest of the girls."

Please, be my guest. Make it as painful and as drawn-out as possible so you can fully understand that you're helping clean the gene pool out and not infecting others with your whiny-ass attitude.

/yes, I'm all in favor of legal sucide, as long as it doesn't involve bombs or other people.

Theyve got it all wrong - there's a third factor to be considered:

Ice cream consumption

That's right - when the rate of ice cream consumption goes up, so does violent crime/murder. Therfore, violence = f(x) ben n jerrys consumption

QED

I've never understood this kind of headline. Wouldn't it be more grammatically correct to say "Study: Summer linked to suicide"?

(Not blaming the poster, the article has the same headline.)

TotallyFarkedDude - "I'm all in favor of legal suicide"

Suicide is illegal? Damn, that right there will keep me from blowing my head off knowing that my corpse will have to do some SERIOUS time.

i thought the whole seasonal depression thing was all about people getting bummed out in the winter due to the lack of sunshine...

2002-12-29 02:44:53 PM
See, I told you. Migration was not a fad....

Okay. People get depressed in the winter because all the holiday stress and lack of sunshine blah blah blah, right? Well, when July comes around with the sun and life isn't any better, why be happy? Why not commit suicide? I saw one study that showed that April is the month when the most suicides actually occur. More women kill themselves than men, men are more likely to use a gun whereas women are more likely to use passive methods such as drug overdoses or wrist-slitting. And if someone is feeling so shiatty that they want to kill themselves, for *whatever* reason no matter how trivial or stupid you think it is, then that person needs help.

And yes, suicide is illegal, but how many people really get arrested for attempting suicide? Stupid laws.

And yes, suicide is illegal, but how many people really get arrested for attempting suicide?

I think the point of that law is to tack on a "assistance" clause. I.E. John helps Joe commit suicide. Therefore John can be charged with a part in the crime.

Another study on suicide was done in one of the Scandanavian countries a couple of years ago. The results of that study concluded that a rise in suicide occurred during the months of elongated darkness that are common in countries so close to the North Pole.

I'm finding it hard to take stock in any of these studies now, actually.

I have always hated summer, am always completely zonked out by it, so I agree with this study completely. There is SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), which is associated with winter depression, and then there is Summer SAD, which is more rare. I think with winter, you can blame it on the weather and stick it out, but with summer, God, it is just hot and really bright and awful. With insomnia. Yuck.

My idea of the perfect day is about 40 degrees Farenheit, and misting, dark by 5:00 p.m.

This last Spring I finally got some help with it and went on anti-depressants and enjoyed summer for the first time ever.

So, it sounds weird, but it is true.

The only thing that depresses me about summer is they stop the football season. On the upside, they start the boobies season, so it's a fair trade off.

Those poor people just need to cool off.
