5. It's Just Karma, Man

So, that makes it three realistic reasons?

I'll give you four reasons they won't:

1. Red Sox
2. Rays
3. White Sox
4. Angels

The Cubs, like 13 of 16 NL teams, had a losing record in interleague play.

I guess Time missed the memo, sports isn't like politics. While fawning media coverage for a candidate may translate to an additional few points in the polls, it doesn't mean a damn lick to a sports score. Time and ESPN can continue to fellate the Cubs all they want. The Cubs have a losing record against American League teams. I would expect three of those American league teams to have a marked advantage (Angels, Rays and Red Sox) and the White Sox have a pretty good shot at them as well.

I was unaware they were going to have to play all of those teams. Geez, no wonder they have no chance.

BTW, Cubs were 3-3 against the White Sox, 0-0 against the Red Sox, 0-0 against the Angels...and 0-3 against the Rays.

So maybe the Rays have something over them. But none of the other AL teams do.

I suppose you think you're making some kind of point here, but I can't figure how. Cubs have not played 2 of those teams. They have a better record than 3 of them, not that it matters now. Anything can happen in the playoffs in a series? are you staked on "cubs will lose cause I said so"?

Aside from Hamels, they weren't very impressive today against a mediocre Brewer team...at home....against a pitcher fresh off a DL stint....

Anyone [such as yourself] who runs to "the playoffs are fresh new games, regular season doesn't matter" is essentially saying "anything can happen in the playoffs" so rather than addressing the obvious point, which is that the Cubs, like a lot of NL teams, get their pitching rocked by AL hitters [sup DH rule] you prefer to just HOPE nothing that you saw during the season matters. I am making a point, it just flew two feet above your head.

I didn't even say the Cubs WOULD lose, we've had a nice smattering of teams finally overcoming playoff droughts, I don't see why they couldn't. I just said that "regular season doesn't matter" is no answer to "Cubs suck when playing the AL."

Looks like the Dodgers will win tonight. Earlier I heard that the team that wins the first game in a series has won all but one of the previous 20 plus playoff series. That does not bode well for the Cubs.

Worst article I've read in a while. It feels right? Couldn't a fan of any team say that?

I guess there was a reason "Pitching control" wasn't on the list.

One reason they won't: they're the Cubs. Every year it seems they have a better roster than their last playoff failure, sportswriters and Cubs fans are jumping up and down screaming "This is their year!!!!" Then they go and blow it. It's just what the Cubs do. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but it seems everyone out there hasn't quite grasped this concept yet, so I'll keeping beating away until everyone finds out.

You can suck my dick. I was actually in Wrigleyville, instead of in my mom's basement like yourself. It's one game. That's it.

Why do you always revert to the 'gay' to insult other teams? I think you have some real soul searching to do there. I thought it was just rumored that Chris Cooper shadowed you to prepare for his role as Col. Frank Fitts in American Beauty, but now I'm beginning to believe it's true...
