(Some Guy)   Have you ever wanted to sort through a bunch of books and then arrange them by title so they form a sentence? No? Oh, well this person did   (ninakatchadourian.com) divider line 43

Some of it is "Meh" or a bit of a stretch... but I will admit that the second one made me laugh.

OK, the shark one made me chuckle. Which Farker put that one together?

The shark one is funny, but the commentary, treating these as if they were Fine Art (tm), is a bit over the top.

So it took 15 years to arrange a few similar titles on a book shelf? No offense guy but I'm not impressed.

WOW, I thought you meant they were a bit ga-ga over them...they even have titles and lengths, dates, jesus dude chill. They're BOOKS.

Highway 17 Theatres approves.

We used to do this in the bookstores and the video stores I formerly managed. We came up with some great dirty phrases just by lining up titles a certain way.

Alas! Few people noticed.

I can put together the following after just a few minutes tooling around amazon:

So You Don't Want To Go To Church Anymore?

I Will Fear No Evil

But guys this started 1993 years ago ...

I guess they know because they found a stack of parchments in Pompeii that formed some seriously funny Latin phrase??

Pair that with the invisible bookshelf and now we're talkin'.

Why is it the only thing I can think is: Burma Shave..?

The fact the dyslexia book was upside down was amusing.

2008-09-29 07:55:11 PM
I think this is a neat idea, but being a tad odd myself, I'd have trouble using books that were not related to the sentence made. For example, I could not use the "Shark" journal, b/c it's not about sharks; it's a poetry and art anthology.

Didn't Piers Anthony or one of those people write the titles of their books to form some statement relevant to the series or something like that? Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or did I just make that up?

Thanks for that... what a novel idea!

I work at a bookstore and the closest I got was putting books with naughty titles all on one display. In my imagination.

/would like to keep her job
//however did make display of kids' bibles with "A Series of Unfortunate Events" sign over them.

overslacked: Didn't Piers Anthony or one of those people write the titles of their books to form some statement relevant to the series or something like that? Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or did I just make that up?

His books all contain puns and homophones, but as far as I know, they don't form sentences together.

2008-09-29 08:21:17 PM
oh and once I saw a blimp: YES!
I mean no.

Don't say "yes" when you want to say "no."

Sheesh

/Invisible bookshelf is all sorts of cool, although to be truly invisible, you'd have to cut out notches from all of the books to hide the bracket.
//waiting for an "invisible bookshelf" LOLcat

Oh, and messing with the Sue Grafton ("A is for Alibi," "B is for...") section could be fun. I believe she's up to the "R is for..." book now.

I wouldn't put it past him but I never noticed a sentence. Then again, I stopped reading Piers anthony at the very beginning of the 90's.

I am totally going to have to resist the urge to do this to my bookshelves now.

*twitches*

Omg teh fun I will have...

Comsamvimes: I always amused myself in stores like Target by rearranging the Sue Grafton novels to spell out words like or various other words.

There we go! I tried GIS for some images, which I know are out there, but I couldn't find anything. Kudos, Sir or Madam! :)

DblDad: My first wife was a librarian and one day she asked me to organize our records so she could find albums faster (yeah, we're ancient). So, I tried to come up with a perfectly logical, though completely useless method and color was the best.
