TnJed: I don't think you actually meant to take the line "non treason = non crime" but that's how it came out.

You're right. I didn't mean that it was cool to kill a bald eagle. I just didn't how people get outraged at the crime as if it is the worst crime in the history of man to kill a bird.

Doesn't exactly match up with raping a 12 year old, though. Nobody gets patriotic outrage over that crime, they get humanitarian outrage.

Do you have the cool decoys that move their tail and move their head up and down side to side? By remote control?
Also why can't Americans shoot those dirty Canadian geese? Its not like they are endangered.

How do you know that the asinine tag wasn't for the man that shot the decoy?

Good point..... hadn't thought of that! opps....

Remote control..... Dude, I was Idaho Fish & Game. We're lucky we didn't have to make our own out of cardboard!

Canada Geese? Ohhh yeah we can shoot'em.... Them's delicious flying vermin!

When I was a kid, my smelly uncle Dave had a "pet" trumpeter swan, that thing was MEAN! To this day I don't know how or why it came into his care, but I do remember he used to carry it under his arm and tell it to "say hi"... by beaking me in the forehead. I never did like that swan uncle.

ALSO...

jaylectricity: I'm still not sure I understand why it matters when we kill a bald eagle. Does it actually do anything to America?

Most people that hunt bald eagles are just looking for the thrill of doing something illegal. It's not like they're traitors or anything.

Aside from making the flag cry and losing the war in Iraq, a bald eagle on the hunt is a rare and mighty sight to behold and it's disgusting that this guy was shooting them like they were pigeons in Trafalgar Square. (also they eat mostly fish, not game birds, so this tard was killing them for no reason at all)

Though I would never shoot an eagle or hawk, I think the laws are a little silly. Most are far from endangered. Hell, I saw a flock of 30 bald eagles when I was sailing last weekend, and another twenty in smaller groups.

Fark'in swans and geese are so mean they hate themselves. Ex-wife #2 had a big scar on her thigh from where a pet goose grabbed her, and twisted.... youch!

They also don't congregate. They are extremely territorial. They follow a uniform distribution. You would NEVER see 30 eagles in one place. They would kill each other. You are lying.

You're a idiot.

I think you're lying about living in WI. Have you ever been to LaCrosse in November? They migrate dude, and they're already grouping up (which I think is way early, makes me wonder about the upcoming winter).

This guy's right. Up in Alaska, sometimes there will be groups of 10-20 hanging out on the riggings of a fishing-boat like sea-gulls. It's rare, but it happens.

In the Rockies I've never seen more than 3 or 4 together though...

I HOPE the tag was for the "hunter"

While picking up a hooker may be illegal, no one (in theory)is being harmed.

Here, shooting an endangered species means that eventually there will be NO MORE eagles, the fact that this 'tard did not care means I do not care who uses THEIR rifle in him.

And as I said, I thought it was odd too. I generally don't see them around Lake Pepin in that number until everything else is frozen.

I was sailing between Maiden Rock WI and Pepin WI, last weekend, Sept 19. WE saw a group of 6 or 8 eagles, right over Pepin. Over the course of an hour, it ended up being around 30, all soaring in the same proximity. They were over the bluffs which are less than two miles from the lakeshore. We were paying particular attention because I was sailing with my sister (from here) and her boyfriend from MI who had never seen a bald eagle.

It happened, period. I can't say it was exactly 30 because we lost count at 22, and then more came.

Game Wardens use decoys down here to catch spot-lighters. They'll put a big fake 8pt on the side of some road and wait for a truck of drunk rednecks to take a pop at it.

Will I be arrested for attempted murder if I stab a mannequin?

Personally, I think she was a slut and probably came alive with LOTS of people, but judges dont want to hear that.

You're right. You never see large quantities of bald eagles in one place. Especially not when they're migrating or have found a plentiful feeding area. In fact you should probably ignore the pictures below, as they cannot exist.

Oh, and also, be really, really sure of your facts before you accuse other people of lying.

Freakin' awesome!

I've never been able to get closer than a quarter mile or so when I've seen them in those numbers, but I've seen a couple hundred gather in an area. They like the upper locks and dams along the Mississippi when the inland lakes freeze, and that is where I've seen them in large numbers.

I've also seen them in northern mn in smaller groups of 4-6, in mid-summer, hunting the same part of a lake. They may be territorial while breeding, but they dont seem to mind one another too much when it comes to finding food.

2008-09-27 02:04:53 AM
ok sure, but if we make shooting decoy eagles illegal and we start punishing people for it, they will just go back to the REAL thing. I say let them have their decoys.

I feed my hookers to eagles so I found this quite ironic.

Never seen more than 6 at a time, and most were chicks without the distinctive colouring yet. That's an amazing pic, though red windbreaker is about to get his face eaten.

Subby's an idiot.

Decoys are used and work with all sorts of different animals/birds that are not legal to hunt.
Duh.

Bald eagles are farking cool; shooter is a cock.

2008-09-27 06:59:59 AM
I don't see anything asinine about this. They didn't actually charge him with shooting an eagle - the charge was "attempting to kill a migratory bird". I think shooting at an eagle decoy fills the legal, reasonable, and moral requirements for that charge.

If anyone does think this is asinine, riddle me this: do you honestly think when the man shot at it, he knew it was a decoy? Is that the argument here?

poachers belong in jail.

Catching poachers is dangerous, you KNOW they are well armed.

In the '60smy grandfather attempted to arrest a poacher, routine work, until the poacher started shooting.

Final score

Grand Dad 1 - Poacher dead

/Did I mention that I hate poachers?
