I'm not very involved with the payments, etc for TF. I did hear that you can use a check with Paypal, and don't need a credit card. Other folks can purchase a TF account for you as well. We are still working on a few new avenues to allow people to not use TF. Sorry, but we cant take checks, wads of cash, your penny collection, a truckload of beer (wait a minute - something might be worked out), your younger sister, or some shiny things in trade for an account. Its mostly because they system is set up to be fully automated, and there's no manual entry setup.

Oh shush, it's free unless its total fark, and if youre paying for total fark then you know what you were getting and there is MUCH MORE GOOD THAN BAD.

Theres a lot these days, I dont even know all of them. it doesnt pay money, but it does pay love :) and we are all over the place. Jeff told you :P

Don't know if you're being serious or not, but in many of the photoshop threads there are more deleted comments than there are visible ones. On average I delete about 6 sets of "oops please delete mods kthx" each time I look through a PS thread.

How much for Jeff?

Slayerswine was banned due to his inability to contain is trollish urges. He was given chance after chance to not lose his cool in the threads, and continued with abusive and borderline illegal behavior. Eventually, patience runs out, which it did in that case.

Many of us mods/admins have met Slayer in person, and we all acknowledge he's an ok guy. But he has anger management issues and has trouble controlling himself once he gets in here.

Literally, like five chances or something.

Damn, I'm not gonna be able to keep up.

Banning:

There are several different "levels" if you will...
We can delete a comment. This happens the most.
We can set your time til next post ahead (minutes, hours, years)
We can allow you to post, but automaticly delete your posts.
We can apply the last 2 to the account that you just used, or to all of your accounts. (Yes we know)

Usually we go for just deleting stuff. When people get really out of line we go further.

I don't like the term banned. I prefer to think of it as removing someone's ability to annoy the user community. You can still read the articles and the comments, you just cant participate.

What stuff gets you banned? Well, we don't have a huge list, because people would always be searching for loopholes, or complaining that there are too many rules, and they didnt get down to rule 694,373: Thou shalt not make fun of Jeff's gerbils.

A good analogy to keep in mind is that you are hanging out in Drew's house at his party. His mom is in the other room, and may walk in to where you are.
Don't be an idiot, and try to show a little respect for the other folks at the party. We might have to ask you to calm down a bit, or we might show you the door. We want as many people as possible to enjoy the party.

Why was "x" banned. This is a matter between us and the person. Generally we give people several chances. If you find yourself unable to post shoot a note to drew and ask why (or apologize if you have an idea), and then apologize and make sure you adjust a bit. The people that aren't coming back, and yes - slayerswine is one of them, were given several chances. They were unable to change their behavior, so they are not welcome at our party. (we also don't like to be threatened with violence, legal action over stupid crap, etc)
