You aren't the only one Rudezombie, I've seen their video on MuchMusicUSA a view times and I muted them every time. Not my kind of groove.

Aha - on the "sucks" page, the part about Augusta and Tiger Woods:

As a Berkeley grad,

Okay, that explains much of the article.

How the hell is Eminem the worst of american Culture, but no mention of Fear Factor or the Bachelor? Those shows are waay more vapid than anything Eminem has ever done. You may disagree with his lyrics but they honestly reflect his own thoughts, warts and all. Whereas FF and the Bachelor reflect America's willingness to spend an hour of their lives watching drivel. I'm not a fan of Eminem, but he's got alot more talent than some of the 'artists' out there. N'Sync gets no mention, N'kay.

And having Winona but not making mention of how easily we, as Americans, became obsessed with it. Christ, the coverage was almost as bad as that killer OJ's trial, and all for thieving $5k worth of merchndise? And oh yeah Zoloft is the reason she's a nut, not the dozen or so other drugs she was found with.

Dumb Link

First of all: Anduril is evil.

Okay, next.

The only place you'll find culture in america is in a petre dish.

And also...

There are no good US news stations. They squeeze every last inch of the screen with tickers, weather, ass sizes what have you, and in a tiny two inch square cube in the top right is a guy talking about the something american and insular.

I really wanted to be impressed with the US news service, but it just doesn't pay attention to stories. As soon as they get something they have to hammer it out quick as a flash, so you get news along the lines of "OMG! SOMETHING HAPPENED! WE HAVE A LOOPED THREE SECOND VIDEO OF AN EVENT HAPPENING, AND WE HAVE A GUY ON THE SCENE WHO KNOWS NOTHING BUT WE'RE GOING OVER TO HIM BECAUSE HE'S THERE AND HE'S INTERROGATING A HOMELESS GUY RIGHT NOW FOR SOME INFORMATION!" etc.

I think i was watching CNN yesterday, and some reporter was saying "and now let's see how christmas is being celebrated around the world."

He might as well have said "and now let's see how christmas is being celebrated among our allies, and there will be no pictures of poor starving cold people to put you off opening your presents."

The news is wasted on America.

Anyone else get a laugh out of the juxposition of "the former President's bl0w job" and "Winona's Sticky Fingers"?

Anyone who thinks it's great should go back and relisten to "Sister" or "Daydream Nation" and learn what true greatness is.

Thank you! Trail of the Dead sounds like a less experimental Sonic Youth.... I picked up their album because A. it was $10 and B. I kept hearing it was good and that they were loud and noisy... they were neither. Yeah, Monsoon and the title track were overamped, but they were the only good tracks....

and any critic that will praise Source Tags and Codes and then put down Yanqui UXO by Godspeed You Black Emperor! has immediately lost any credibility...

.... and don't get me started about Yankee Foxtrot Hotel by Wilco, either....

there isn't much news left in america. it's been morphing into entertainment for the last 20 years and the transformation is almost complete.

Fox News ROCKS!

He must be trying to get a writing gig with Yello Times.

America has culture? I've not noticed much discounting of course those that castigate it... this list was of no help at all, though i suppose cheap entertainment is american culture... that's nothing to brag about.

Good article; i didn't agree with everything, but entertaining.
Bush: polarizing the world against us day-by-day. Where america used to be a world leader, we are now the antagonist. What a poor executive branch leader.

I have 2 comments on this...... the fact that he thinks the only thing going on in womens rock besides Slater-Kinney is Christina/Brittney makes him a moron. Actually it clearly makes him a moron that thinks the rock world revolves around what MTV says.

Secondly, the fact that one of the reasons America sucks is that an actress was brought up on theft charges? Or that a washed up singer held his child off a balcony?

Runner up for Worst should be the asshats who tried to raise a ruckus about Lord of the Rings (or, for that matter, Star Wars 2) being racist.

haven't heard about Lord of the Rings being racist....

And to those saying America has no culture, well, culture isn't something easily built within 300 years or so. Especially when many different cultures exist within our country, many of which refuse to integrate or even socialise with the others (and this includes Europeans.)...

I fully agree with Robsul82's point about FotR being boring. It looked amazing, it set up the scene, and it was definetely well made... but it was certainly boring in places, and did not warrant "Best Film", as to me, it was only an introduction.

I am saying this as a semi-fan of Mr Tolkeins work , and "The Two Towers" was certainly more exciting. The thing about the Lord of the Rings though, is that it is boring. It's lush, it brings new ideas and has some superb characters, but the plot is rather mundane. Pratchett & Rowling are much more interesting in my opinion, although I'll grant that Tolkein is the daddy of fantasy.

my dad saw Two Towers and said that all the bad guys were darkskinned with terrible teeth and all the good guys were white and had straight teeth, i could se how overly sensitive people could interpret that as racist.

Shouldn't Fark dot com be listed in both categories?

I agree with a fair bit of what this guy writes. Eminem was clearly ass raped by someone early in life and it shows in his lyrics. The best news channel in the world to watch is the BBC. Don't fear lawyers, fear accountants. As to Bush, let me just say I'm glad I'm living in a country where most of the people voted for my leader.
