How about a quiz about current events that doesn't include British gossip?

2002-12-24 07:50:39 PM
picky picky...

2002-12-24 07:50:39 PM
headline should *maybe* include something about the fact that, um....

IT'S ALL BRITISH!

2002-12-24 07:52:41 PM
I get my news from fark. Does that make me evil?

2002-12-24 07:57:20 PM
In soviet britain, current events quiz you!

2002-12-24 07:57:56 PM
what? i wasnt listenin....

2002-12-24 07:59:55 PM
It's all British news, I don't know about news outside of Earth...I mean America

2002-12-24 08:00:15 PM
I did pretty poorly... for which I'm proud, given the focus of most questions.

2002-12-24 08:00:55 PM
Poofs. Feh.

2002-12-24 08:02:21 PM
Lame ass news quiz from those little islands off the coast of mainland Europe

2002-12-24 08:04:22 PM
I couldn't even pay attention long enough to finish the quiz.

2002-12-24 08:12:11 PM
twenty out of fifty, mostly guesses

"We're all farked. I'm farked. You're farked. The whole department's farked. It's been the biggest cock-up ever and we're all completely farked"

Speaking of The Guardian.... when the hell did the US become "The World"

The US is the US.... the UK and all the other strange-ass countries are "The World"

Duh.

2002-12-24 08:17:04 PM
I got everything right that FOXNews told me about.
Note the subtle irony that I got less than half correct.

2002-12-24 08:17:38 PM
News, yes. British news, not so much.

2002-12-24 08:18:24 PM
26/50 here. i pwn at current events, and im a good guesser at british CE

2002-12-24 08:20:08 PM
What the hell? Even if I'd payed super-close attention and read every magazine I came across I still couldn't answer a crapload of those questions. Why, I'm indignant at the very thought of being quizzed on British tabloid rumo(u)rs.

I really liked the swearing though. The Euros aren't so uptight about naughty words that us American prudes are.

2002-12-24 08:25:18 PM
I got 26/50 as well. Most questions were over 'hit of the moment' news stories that never have followup.

2002-12-24 08:33:48 PM
I just don't follow British news enough to have the slightest clue about most of this... Sorry Europe, I try to be open-minded, but I just can't make myself care about "gifting" in the hamlet of Silverfark.

2002-12-24 08:35:54 PM
I got to question 37 before being distracted by a shiny object. how does it end?

2002-12-24 08:37:12 PM
Funny - I got 26/50 as well. I scan a lot of articles though, sometimes even reading them all the way through. That score and a man would get me laid this evening on Christmas Eve.

2002-12-24 08:43:20 PM
What did George Bush say he wanted in Iraq?

Um, oil?

2002-12-24 08:44:19 PM
Gee, it seems like an awful lot of you actually read the linked articles off these comment thingees...why is that??

2002-12-24 08:46:20 PM
LoveLola that score and a trip up the Thruway to Syracuse could get you laid tonight (hint hint...)

/desperate single farker...sad, I know

2002-12-24 08:48:35 PM
Greaaaat.... I've been away at school all year and haven't paid attention to a damn thing. All I know is that we're going to hell in a handbasket 'cause of Bushie boy.

2002-12-24 08:50:21 PM
Sorry Dying_one_day_at_a_time, but unless Santa appears to give me a lift to Syracuse in his sled, I'll be staying in the city tonight. Happy Christmas though.

2002-12-24 08:51:24 PM
Aw shucks...well Merry Christmas and stuff to you anyways :-)

2002-12-24 08:52:07 PM
I took that thing, without reading ANY of the questions and got 37. I went back and read the questions and only got 18. I think I might try my SAT's again, with a blindfold.

2002-12-24 08:54:31 PM
Damn Moriarty23, might I also suggest you pick up a PowerBall or Lottery ticket as well, as you seem to be having a bit of luck at the moment.

2002-12-24 08:57:24 PM
Nah, it's a power I can not use for evil. I've tried. It does help me with the ladies on occasion, but that's not to evil.

2002-12-24 08:59:25 PM
And I can pick out any piece of chocolate, without ever getting one with a nut in it.

2002-12-24 09:01:01 PM
I'm also pretty good with the horses, but that's not gambling it's science.

2002-12-24 09:01:46 PM
I refuse to watch the "news" anymore. It's all scare tactics and profiling. So I read Fark instead.

"You scored 28 out of a possible 50
Cheriegate, dossiers, material breaches and non-specific terrorist threats ¿ 2002 has all been a bit of a mess when you come to think about it. Congratulations for coming in at the halfway mark."

Okay, so I am an idiot. Thanks. Happy Holidays!

This quiz was kind of one-sided, being about all kinds of nonsensical British stuff that's irrelevant here in the States, but I did okay anyway:

You scored 19 out of a possible 50
You picked up on the big stuff--the war in Afghanistan, the rise of the far right in France and the lioness who adopted an oryx--but missed some lesser items. I hope you managed to sell the Enron shares in time.

I don't get the Enron thing because there really wasn't anything about American stock scandals, unless that "fark" quote above was part of it, and even if it were, that was only one question. It shouldn't have killed my score.

You scored 15 out of a possible 50

hehehe... oh yeah !! the Enron stocks .... sh|T!!

More alert than most. Check the answers page to see which areas you need to work on for next year but otherwise give yourself a pat on the back

Do I win a prize?

You bet Nitwit, Santa will be by with it around midnight.

2002-12-24 09:28:21 PM
Yeeeeeeah...This is like a quiz about Doctor Who arcana when all i know is The Simpsons. Effing Limeys...

2002-12-24 09:30:02 PM
Nitwit,

You are from the UK. That's the ONLY way you could of scored that high. That or you are an Anglophile to the point of obsession...Right??

2002-12-24 09:40:12 PM
LoveLola: You bet Nitwit, Santa will be by with it around midnight.

Hmm.... 2:40am here, still no sign. I'm beginning to think this whole 'Santa' thing isn't what it's cracked up to be!

Tristram: Nitwit,

You are from the UK. That's the ONLY way you could of scored that high. That or you are an Anglophile to the point of obsession...Right??

Heh, I'm British, so yeah, I had a bit of a head start. :) Still, anyone who has even the slightest interest in World affairs should be able to answer half these questions correctly - even if it's just educated guesswork. ;)

2002-12-24 09:49:32 PM
Well Nitwit, how can Santa deliver your presents if you're naughty and awake and Farking? Um, that didn't come out right...

2002-12-24 09:50:04 PM
You scored 50 out of a possible 50
Perfect - or as close to perfect that no one really cares. What more is there to say? Have a happy 2003

I like being a good guesser. And also a good Google searcher.

2002-12-24 10:37:53 PM
29 out of 50. That doesn't seem too bad, being a Yankee taking a Brit test.

2002-12-24 10:42:09 PM
You scored 46 out of a possible 50
Perfect - or as close to perfect that no one really cares. What more is there to say? Have a happy 2003.

I guess I can't really say I don't care, because I just wasted 5 minutes doing it. But I can pretend.

43%
2002-12-24 10:45:05 PM
18 out of 50. And very proud of it. After all, if I knew details about minor European politicians and British tabloid gossip, how would I remember the state of Britney Spears' hymen?

2002-12-24 10:47:47 PM
It amazes me how insignifigant all this is. I don't care. Not because it's British; I didn't care when Clinton got sucked off and I don't care that Lott hates 'darkies'. It just incredible how much has happened in the news this year and they put all this superficial crap into this quiz.
