y'know what? There's only four things we do New Zealand does better than anyone else:
music
movies
microcode (software)
high-speed pizza delivery

This was in Townsville, so they should have had the Powerpuff Girls handle it.

good for the cops. no point in penalizing the pizza customer

I'm just glad they caught him before he was late for another delivery. It really sucks when the pizza man is late.

/used to deliver pizza

That happened to me twice when I was working for Dominoes.

Back in the early 80's.

The life of a pizza driver was always intense.

It's all Domino's fault. If they'd just stuck to pizza, the poor dude never would've pasta speed limit.

Seriously? Tipping is purely an American thing, so he was speeding because he felt like it, cause there isn't any money for him on the other end of that delivery. Having delivered pizzas myself for 3 years, I now know for a fact that speeding is pointless for trip times. Red lights and the number of left hand turns into traffic are the only important things that affect how long it takes to get somewhere (in other words thing that make you be at a complete stop). With traffic lights the average speed achieved in city traffic is 32-37 mph, regardless of how fast your top speed is.

A long, long time ago in a neighbourhood far, far away I too was once a pizza delivery guy.

Gernerally we had a pretty good relationship with the local cops as they got first dibs on any leftover or extra pizzas. They could drop in anytime and get free pizza and if the delivery guy had an undeliverable pizza we would drop it off directly at the police station on our way back to the restaurant.

In return we got pretty good service when we called the police to help us out with fights in the restaurant and thievery or non payment during our deliveries. They also didn't tread on the delivery guys too hard if we at least slowed down a little for the stop signs, signaled our lane changes as we wove through traffic and kept our speed below mach one.

I did go over the line slightly one night however.

We were issued these little Vega station wagons with a pizza warming oven in the back and an automatic transmission that seemingly allowed you to travel in reverse about as fast as you could in drive. This saved valuable time when you were hunting for street adresses in the dark.

I still have the speeding ticket I was issued for doing sixty-six miles an hour in a thirty zone............in reverse.

/those were the days

Police clocked him driving at 131kms in an 80 kph zone on Saturday, but waited for him to deliver his pizza before booking him.

On his return journey to the pizza shop, he was caught speeding at 133 km in the same zone.

Translation: he was able to outrun the cops on the way to the delivery, but they were able to catch him on the return trip

We give the cops 10% off, and as a result I've been let off of two tickets for not stopping at a red light, which in RVA are about $200 each. The best thing is that they both happened while 'off duty'.

When I delivered subs for Jimmy John's, our store had an arrangement with the local police. As long as we weren't doing anything stupid or dangerous, we could drive (reasonably) as fast as we wanted. In return, any cop in uniform got all the free subs he or she wanted when they came in.

As the Deliverator is pulling out of the chute, building up speed, checking the address that is flashed across his windshield, deciding whether to turn right or left, it happens. His stereo cuts out again-on command of the onboard system. The cockpit lights go red. Red. A repetitive buzzer begins to sound. The LED readout on his windshield, which echoes the one on the pizza box, flashes up: 20:00.

They have just given the Deliverator a twenty-minute-old pizza. He checks the address; it is twelve miles away.
