OH, and one more thing I forgot to put in my post...

Anytime you have to explain something to someone about it being offensive...IT'S NOT OFFENSIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Tony himself was the "butt" of the comment so unless he offended himself, why should anyone else be offended?!?

I heard the apology and then had to roll back the DVR to try and figure out what he was apologizing for...still didn't know till it was explained on here....again, for those hearing imparied folks, I'll my top story...IF YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING TO HIGHLIGHT IT BEING OFFENSIVE, IT'S NOT OFFENSIVE!

HBK: Fact Man: kwame: Whew. I'm glad I came here so a bunch of white people on the internet could help me determine that it was definitely not offensive. Thanks, folks.

If you're personally offended by pretty much any joke, you're a dumbass.

Good rule of thumb.

I don't take advice from some jerk who advocates wife beating.

Asshole.

I don't know what that means. Is that a movie reference or something?

It is often claimed that the term "rule of thumb" originally referred to a law that limited the maximum thickness of a stick with which it was permissible for a man to beat his wife, but this has been fully discredited as a hoax.

Udontknowme: WTF did he have to apologize for??? I heard the apology and now it turns out I also heard the "offending comment". Make no mistake....I DESPISE Tony Kornhiser on MNF. But, he said NOTHING wrong last night. Toughen up amigo.

I like TK. I enjoy him on PTI, and he doesn't bother me in the booth at the games, even though that comb over in HD is wretched.

The thing that sickens me the most is that people have taken "offensive" and applied it to anything and everything they disagree with. If you happen to be against gay marriage and your state is trying to pass a bill to allow it, you aren't offended by it, you just don't like it. If you are against the confederate flag and notice one on a car as you pass it, it isn't offensive. You just don't think it should be allowed to be displayed. The world does not revolve around you. Sometimes you have to put up with things you disagree with.

i remember reading that that particular cartoon received quite a few complaints. Gary Larson said the problem was that one of the tools looked like a saw, so people tried to figure out wtf the other ones were when they were just random shapes.

Honestly nothing was awkward until he apologized.

The most embarrassing and offensive thing last night was Jackson celebrating early.

Because everyone who can run, jump or swim is already in the states...

They were hyping NFL Latino so farking much last night because it was a Cowboys game. I bet as soon as those words came out of his mouth someone was in his ear telling him to apologize.

I like Mr. Tony and that game was awesome last night. Missed the quote because I had the TV on mute since my wife was asleep but I did have the CC on and guess I missed it.

Whachoo talkin bout?? That was awesome!

And as far as the Eli Manning comment goes, a lot of people who don't follow college ball didn't know anything about him (Ole Miss, anyone?). Word was Eli was considered to be more talented than Peyton when they were kids. I expect a lot from him.

Here's the joke Tony said: "I took high school Spanish and that either means 'nobody is going to touch him' or 'could you pick up my dry cleaning in the morning."

Two things:

- That statement is in no way inherently offensive to anyone. Anyone who is truly offended by that statement is being oversensitive, that's all there is to it.

- I hate Kornheiser on MNF and want him gone. But not for this.

Roger Arseways: Khellendros: A for-profit corporation attempts to attract more primary ad revenue by appealing to the lowest common demoninator of watchers?

First of all, I work in sports television... big kick... etc...

Anyway, I understand it's a business. It's a business that's making me a pisspot of money right now. BUT! As a sports FAN, it upsets me that the game is being dumbed down like that. You're absolutely right, but look at a broadcast by CBS or FOX. The announcers talk about the game, analyze what is happening and give insight into why one team is winning, etc. Tirico/Kornheiser don't do that. It's more like a casual conversation while trying to trump the game up as the biggest thing ever. yesterday's game was a very good one, but ESPN was treating it like it was bigger than the Super Bowl, instead of week 2. It's a marquee matchup, yes, but keep it real. In the world of television, less is more. (that's actually written in a control room I work out of.)

SportsCenter has been unwatchable for these same reasons for a while now, and sadly Monday Night Football's starting to go down that same path. It was a monetary decision that took them off ABC, and while it had to happen some time, they essentially did it so they could re-brand MNF into something that your girlfriend can understand. Isn't that the whole appeal -- having to explain it to her? :)

I'd have to say I really noticed how much MNF football announcing sucks after last night. I never really pay attention to the broadcast team too often but since it was the eagles last night i figured i would.. And this statement is the most truthful one i've ever read.

It's quite sad really.

kronicfeld: I understood him to be saying that Felix Jones made whomever was chasing him into his personal b*tch. I am no aware of any racial stereotype involving Mexicans and dry cleaning.

Yeah, that one is kinda odd, as the stereotype is Chinese cleaners, although, here in Dallas, I will say the cleaners I have gone too have almost all been staffed by Hispanics. Strangely, however, the donut shops are run by Asians. Not a clue why that is.
