When you've heard reports mentioning "those whizkids on Wallstreet" - that's them. Their business consists in equal parts of pretty boring brokering, and exciting dealing. When companies do a merger or IPO, a firm like Lehman does the legwork and underwrites share issues, that kind of thing. They also think up ~~financial abortions~~ structured products (including those where mortgages are cut up and sold off), and trade in them (on behalve of clients or themselves).

As such, they are counter party in deals with a lot of other financial institutions you may actually have a relationship with, such as your bank, mortgage lender, credit card co., pension fund, etc.

Well, I did see it in a restaurant.. Monday night is wing night!!!

You see the woman who is rolling her junk out right before the scene where the guys are fooling around? I laughed to the rest of the table that her and the other people picking up their stuff must have had zero notice because she looked really casually dressed. I bet they got the call and had like two hours to go get their stuff, lol.
