? for Farkers, especially PA ones because I can feel that this will go green:

How many of you think United 93 was actually shot down?

My in-laws are all from PA, and every single one of them states this as a fact. Some are Republican, most are Democrats, but they don't disagree on this.

Personally, I'm not sure if it matters...if they had to shoot it down, they had to. And it doesn't take anything away from the passengers that fought back in-flight.

Just wondering.

I'm south of Pittsburgh, 93 flew damned near over my house on its wacky path before crashing up in the mountains. I've seen the flight path, listened to ATC tapes, looked at every piece of evidence I could find, and I see no reason to believe that it was shot down. But I also can't conclusively say that it wasn't, and under the circumstances I could see the government possibly making the call to do so. My guess is the assholes just ran it into the ground when the passengers were closing in on them.

I shared an office with a guy who's girlfriend went to Saint Francis. She was driving back after seeing him and she was driving on 219 at the time it happened. She called right after saying she saw a plane get shot down.

I dunno if I would take her word as gospel. I could see why the plane was shot down if it was and there could have been jets following it anyway.

That was a very shiatty day at work. My coont of a boss actually expected us to get work done AND have the board of directors meeting that evening. "there's nothing you can do about it. Turn off the TV"

he then made a paper airplane out of the Constitution, lit it on fire and threw it at the crash site to commemorate the government's valiant work since then in honor of the brave Americans who died that day and the freedom they held so dear.

People claimed to have saw a missile heading for TWA 800 too, I don't believe it was shot down either. I'm not out to prove or disprove some grand conspiracy, just saying that while I see no evidence to suggest 93 was shot down, I could certainly understand the government making the call to do so given the circumstances. And if it were, I believe something would have come to light by now. It's like they say, two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead.

If the surge that McCain is patting himself on the back for has truly worked, why after all these months haven't we been able to draw down our troops to pre-surge levels?

Pennsylvania farker here - Democrat. I don't think it was shot down. I come to this conclusion upon a solid and firm basis of no evidence to support my position. I should also point out that I just came from a thread where I was opining that ABC should do an interview with Trig Palin. So, you should probably carefully consider those factors before giving me any credence.

Why does John McCain continue the Bush policy of pretending that the war in Iraq had anything to do with the war on terror?

McCain promises to stay in Iraq until victory is won. Will he eventually define victory in the next 2 months, or is he going to make it up as he goes along just like George W. Bush?
