Well I use Mac/Linux...: tweekster: Well I use Mac/Linux...: So it's pretty common for a 1 ton piece of an engine to land over a mile from the crash site, when it was intact when the plane crashed into the ground?

Yes actually. Planes that crash into the ground will often have debris spread for miles. Debris fields are not localized. This is a common occurrence and a rather simple fact of life that people like you actively choose to ignore.

I'm sorry, you're obviously right. I'm sure you know more about these things than the investigators who initially claimed that there was no way for debris to travel 8 miles away, especially over a mountain ridge.

Yes initial reports are always the most reliable.
You probably have a lot of faith in eye witness testimony too.

Conspiracy, where a lack of evidence is considered evidence!

Philip J. Fry: Robert1966: I took this one myself.

Is that one frame of a video or just a chance snapshot?

A chance snapshot. I had picked up a disposable camera after the first plane hit (which I didn't see directly) and we all thought it had been an accident. Then I got bored because it was all versions of the same shot: building, smoke, etc. So while I was watching the other one came. It was entirely chance that I got this shot. I didn't even know I had it until a month later, when I developed the film. There had been so many images by then that I really wasn't looking forward to seeing mine. And there it was.

I have read the poems of Rumi where the love of a woman is compared to the love of an eternal God in language of such exquisite beauty that even the hardest heart would be moved.

I have read the philosophy of Mulla Sadra and Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi, so unknown in the West but of great influence on Western thought from Spinoza to Heidegger.

Most of all I have read the words of the Prophet himself, so different from the idea that most Westerners have about the Koran. Mohamed had hoped that the "people of the book" would be united by his revelation instead of divided.

It means ANYTHING. This is the way things are here. If there are things that offend you, you WILL encounter them on Fark, and no one will apologize for it.

Yes, you are 100% correct. And Fark is ALSO the place where people will get called douchebags for acting like douchebags, and no one will apologize for it.

If you are offended by the concept, you might want jam it up your ass on fire.

There are several, whether you believe it or not. Frankly, I suspect that you'd just say I was lying.

Only an asshole like yourself would defend another.

Wait, you seriously mean to say that only an asshole like me would defend people who deal with grief this way? I'm honestly not that hurt by that statement.

fatgail: Except, unless the people jumping out of the buildings were YOUR family, it's more like going to someone else's funeral, where everyone is greiving in the "stupid and crazy way" of crying, and telling jokes about the family member in the casket.

Actually, the guy who posted the snuff-film pictures of people jumping out the windows is a guy from North Carolina (who has apparently left the thread) and he was doing it to criticize others for making jokes. I think that's an even more disgusting use of emotional material.

DROxINxTHExWIND: Epiphany: I remember Democrats AND Republicans vowing to get revenge over it. I also remember everyone LOVED it when we invaded Afghanistan.

It seems the only thing Democrats remember is to hate Bush no matter what. fark YOU douchebags. Clinton had multiple chances to kill the KNOWN TERRORIST LEADER Bin Laden before 9/11. Talk about that you mother farkers.

I also remember seeing this joke on an awesome comic online, Cyanide and Happiness.
=================================

What YOU fail to realize (and 80% of the country now knows) is that Bush played on that emotion to get people who normally would not support warfare to go along with his* plan to invade Iraq.

What you idiots try to forget is that this man once had an 80% approval rating. So, STFU once and for all actng like the "liberal" hatred of Bush is somehow irrational. Mutherfarker, there are people dying RIGHT NOW because of his lies and bullshiat. Its funny how the party of personal responsibility can never seem to own up to their own failures.

"Waaaaah, people hate Bush for no reason".

*people list reasons*

"Oh, well he's 'the decider'. He doesn't care about polls."

*Bush is a figurehead.

Hating Bush for 9/11 is stupid bullshiat. Him for using it as an excuse to go to war with Saddam is bullshiat. There were plenty of good reasons, and as a Republican I'm baffled as to why he chose that shiatty, retarded, false one.

Remember, everyone: there is only one proper way to grieve, no one is allowed to grieve in their own way. You are no longer allowed to cry at weddings or tell funny stories at funerals.

Are you that farking stupid? Are you actually saying that posting up pictures that spoof people jumping out of burning buildings and little cartoons of planes crashing into the buildings as a coping mechanism? This isn't "telling funny stories at funerals" about the people you loved. This is mocking the unjust and horrible deaths of thousands of people you never knew, which makes it all the easier and all the more disturbing.

We all grieve differently, but using their deaths as the butt of yet another Fark joke is pathetic.

This is my express written permission that when I go, especially if it is some horrifice fashion, you are all free to work it into jokes, make funny photoshops, do what you will. Some of us just look at life and death in a more realistic fashion.

and btw, I live in DC, and I know people who died that day. Doesn't change the fact that I don't take myself that seriously.

If they crash into the ground full throttle, and explode on impact, of course.

In fact, the fact that the debris didn't scatter more than 8 miles is pretty strong evidence that there wasn't a missile. A missile would have scattered parts over a much, much wider area than just that.

It might be over the top but we don't exactly get to claim we were minding our own business previously. We pissed people off repeatedly, we can't be shocked when they go on the offensive.

The problem is that too many people are unwilling to look at our past to see what caused 9/11, it wasn't simply a "we hate your freedom so we are going to spend 5 years planning and carrying out this mission"

oh stop your whining.

I'm so damn tired of people acting all self-righteous & consedscending because of their "I take 9/11 more serously than you" bullcrap. Get over yourself & keep your misery to yourself. Different people cope in different ways. We can't all go 'round never talking about it & wearing black armbands & never having sex or enjoying ice cream again because a few thousand people died seven years ago.

You clearly have no insight into how witnessing the violent deaths of thousands of one's fellow citizens can have a profound effect on someone's psyche.

You have no idea what it's like to experience a jet plane flying directly over your home and then crashing into part of the skyline three blocks away. You simply cannot imagine the shock, the sounds, the horror. My mind still have difficulty comprehending it.

You have no clue what it is like to live with the smell of burning corpses for months. Or seeing crushed vehicles with blood-spatter that came from the driver being crushed by debris. Or seeing those posters for the missing, every day, and watching the ink and hope slowly fade.

You don't know what it is like to see loved ones just losing their shiat in panic and fear, becoming unrecognizable to you and being unable to give them answer to as to what's going on, or why.

Sadly, I know all of this and more, and I'll never quite get over it. I'll never be right again. I'll always cringe at the sound of a low-flying plane. I'll never get those sounds out of my head. I'll never be able to watch the documentaries without crying.

So go ahead, cope however the hell you want to, but don't tell me that making such a tragedy into entertainment is somehow a good and right thing.

If you, or any of the other shiatheads that think it cute to make entertainment out of 9/11 really feel that way, please come to NYC and tell me some tasteless jokes in person. Show me your stupid photoshops and cartoons.

Then see if any jury convicts me for what I'll do next.
