I try not to think about it... but I doubt I'll ever forget it.

2008-09-08 12:58:22 PM
I can't forget. Not as long as people keep exploiting it.

2008-09-08 01:16:14 PM
It's my birthday.

Everything thing is eventually forgotten.
All those memories lost in time, like teardrops in the rain.

Are you from the future?

It's still 9/8 in my part of the world.

It's perfectly natural for healthy adults to think about other terrorist attacks - or even natural disasters - after seven long years of the "same old, same old."

2008-09-08 02:22:25 PM
All I know is that if Tom Brady is gone for the season this Thursday is going to be a very sad Patriot's Day. Who could ever forget the day they saw that towering QB collapse to the ground?

Faux Shizzle: It's still 9/8 in my part of the world.

It's 9/11 the whole week (noticed a few of the stations like Discovery were re-showing their 9/11 documentaries over the weekend).

/it is a beautiful day here in the NYC area - just like 9/11/01, except there's no smoke

2008-09-08 02:29:18 PM
For some reason earlier today I thought it was the 11th and was thinking about my tax payment being due on the 15th (which I was thinking was Friday) and realizing that it wouldn't wait through the weekend. Then I saw this thread and said to myself, "Oh yeah, it's 9/11." Then I realized it was only the 8th.

I feel like my brain is under attack.

Seven years, and still Hulk Hogan has not been brought to justice.

2008-09-08 02:32:42 PM
Could of forgotten it easier if Bush's favorite Saudi son had been captured.

I always get a kick out of that pic.

As a Denver Broncos fan, one of the things that I remember most vividly about 9/11 is that on the night before, during their season opener on Monday Night Football, Ed McCaffrey had a nasty compound leg fracture that ended his season (and, effectively, his career). He hung onto the ball, though.

Just because you don't talk about it 24/7, and have a huge friggin memorial every year, doesn't mean people have forgotten. Everyone knows about Pearl Harbor, but we don't friggin bring it up every day, do we?

What I'll never forget is how my ex-girlfriend complained that no one remembered her birthday (9/12) because of it, and she thought that was shiatty.

2008-09-08 02:44:25 PM
I'll never forget how it brought us together, and how that was
exploited by Bush, which caused us to be more divided than ever.

Coincidentally, Tom Brady became the new QB for the Pats in the very first game they played after 9/11/01 when the New York Jets' Mo Lewis took Bledsoe out of the game -and ultimately the franchise- with a massive hit.

How can I forget when there's a new "collector's coin" every 6 minutes while I'm watching TV? I love the one that pops up the towers when you press a little button on the side. Act fast as the molds WILL BE DESTROYED IN ONE DAY!

The survival of everyone on board this depends on just one thing: Finding someone on board who can not only fly this plane, but who didn't have fish for dinner.

I remember how impressed I was with Bush in the immediate wake of 9/11...I thought, "Maybe I underestimated him" after seeing him on that pile of rubble talking to the workers at Ground Zero. It was one of the hardest moments a leader of the United States has ever needed to face, and he appeared to emerge as a true leader in those days.

The lesson? Always trust your first instincts

Admittedly, I had to go and readjust my tinfoil hat this weekend when I saw the 9/11 specials airing. I was thinking, "how convenient that these are replaying right after the Republican Convention. I guess they want us to remember that brown people are the enemy".

Then, I caught a glimpse of a calendar and I slinked into my corner.

very hypocritical, just like both sides.....

Can't we all just agree that Saddam should still be torturing his people, plotting to use WMD (and using them too), invading other countries for profit, blatantly disregarding UN mandates, and letting his sons rape women for pleasure?

The UN did nothing about it. The EU didn't have enough backing to do anything about it (the second time).

America did.

I don't necessarily agree with the time at which we chose to unilaterally bring a brutal dictator down. I do believe it was the right thing to do, being the wealthiest nation in the world.

/back to your regularly schedulding bush bashing and talk of oil oil oil (which is also quite important, I might add)

I was over, done with, and sick of this nonsense about three hours after it happened. My 9/11 memory is of a whiny douchebag in poly sci that morning who announced, teary-eyed, that he didn't "feel like he could be here."

It's Thursday, last I checked.

Awful day.

The reaction from the right made it far worse. Sorry if that makes you angry and you may now commence insulting me. I am not the one that politicized 9/11.

The last thing he said to me, doc, he said, "Sometime when the crew is up against it, the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to get out there and give it all they got and win just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then doc, he said, but I won't smell too good, that's for sure.

If I happen to see that the time in the upper right-hand corner of my computer screen reads 9:10, I'll look away, forbid my eyes to drift there for at least another minute.

A few months after it happened, I was in a store and was rung up $9.11. The lady behind me actually gasped and the cashier stood there staring at me and asked, "Aren't you going to buy something else?"

Years ago, when I worked customer service, a woman called up and took ten minutes to explain about how she was a Christian and couldn't possibly have an account number like 00226661213.

People are farking annoying sometimes.
