Exactly, at this point is 100% speculation. If the IP address comes back to Alaska, then things start getting a little more fishy (even though that alone doesn't prove Palin or anyone in her family did it)

In any event the IP address of the editor doesn't always seem to be available via the public interface of the code that tracks the changes. There may be another way to do it that I'm not finding. I'm not really looking that hard,

I looked over some of textual differences. From what I saw at most the editor slanted the article in favor of Palin. One guy claims that a link to a WSJ article was scrubbed, but I didn't look that closely.

The only troubling bit (to me) is that the changes were made prior to the official announcement. As you say though, that's not proof that Palin's staff did it.

There isn't not for normal users anyway. For privacy reasons, If the person is posting as a registered user, their IP info isn't made public because the edits can be tracked through their account.

Someone from Kos has already posted a Conflict of Interest on that person's wikipedia user page. Just asking for some explanation, that's all they really can do. That I know of.
