I thought Sikhs aren't supposed to drink alcohol, especially one that follows the five K's enough to wear a turban.

Beer. Is there anything it can't do?

/I think it may just be better than duct tape.

He's muslim, missed the flight, AND his suitcase was aboard? If this happened 20 years later the poor guy would be in Gitmo for the rest of his life.

He was, so he put a compress on his head.

He's a Sikh and he drank alcohol? When does the stoning begin?

2008-08-29 12:05:31 PM
As far as I'm concerned, there are only 2 ways to fly: drunk or hungover. If you choose the former there is a two drink limit in the airport, the bulk of the drinking must be done on the flight.

/experienced flight drinker
//not the loud belligerent arsehole type

He didn't pretend he was aboard to fake his own death, head for Vegas, rack $30k in winnings, and then flee to LA?

2008-08-29 12:34:44 PM
Yes, but how many people were on flight 103 because they were drunk for an earlier flight?

2008-08-29 12:53:20 PM
Heterodyne: I thought Sikhs aren't supposed to drink alcohol, especially one that follows the five K's enough to wear a turban.

This was twenty years ago. Maybe he found religion since. I'd become a nun for the great Noodly One if i ever missed a doomed flight because i was drunk. :p

Can't be easy to tell this guy he's drinking too much. He'll always have a bullet-proof answer. At least he will until he drunkenly steps in front of a bus.

Were there any stand-by passengers? Too bad we can't get an interview with the guy who got on the flight because or Mr. Lucky Drunk.

tweekster actually his secretary transposed the numbers on the departure time, he was close enough where the doors were shut on him & there was some debate about letting him on after all

Billy West, the guy off Howard Stern who did the voice of "Stimpy" & "Fry" on Futurama was supposed to be sitting next to Seth MacFarlane but he agreed to M.C. this anti-Breast Cancer fundraiser in L.A. & decided to leave a few days earlier to work on his material. He's hosted it ever since.

What's a Pan-Am?

2008-08-29 02:23:36 PM
zerkalo What's a Pan-Am?

It's like a TRW...& maybe an American Airlines or a United, take a legendary air carrier, just add terrorists & bad management , a few bad quarters & there you go, you've made a Pan-Am!

Maybe I'm too old, but do any of you remember the commercials for the Time-Life books about the mysteries of the human mind?

A man gets drunk and misses his flight. Then, it explodes mid-flight. COINIDENCE?

A really trivial bit of trivia: remember Larry Tate on TV's Bewitched? Darren's boss? His real-life only son was aboard Pan Am 103. Relatives believed that he never got over his son's death and his broken heart caused his own death two years later.

Does anyone know a good reason why a plane bound for NY from London was up that north in Scotland?

Thats a great explanation. I had just drawn the ruler line on Google earth between London & NY and it went way south of Scotland.
