Only 14 more regular season games at that stadium. Then the playoffs which will be a perfect time to visit that old empty stadium one last time.

2008-08-28 09:08:52 AM
Ya know, maybe in the grand scheme of things, this is good. If the Yankees don't make the playoffs, then their last regular season home game will truly be the last game ever at the stadium. And everyone will know it. So they can have their memories and shed some tears and there will be some finality and closure. And who knows? Maybe the Yanks can win one in the last game at the stadium! Maybe Alex Rodriguez can hit a game winning home run in that last game, propelling the Yankees past the Blue Jays into 3rd place! Won't that be exciting!

First time no playoffs in 13 years. thats a tough one to take. But im not that bitter. We played poorly. Had to end sometime. As far as im concerned were still the best franchise in baseball, and im sure we will get back to the playoffs next year. OH yea and Sox fans, enjoy being wild card to the fricken Devil Rays. I mean man, who saw that coming. Seriously, I almost think it would hurt more to lose to the devil rays in the playoffs than to not make em at all.

This is a perfect example of sour grapes. Many people think "sour grapes" means that you are bitter that somebody got the best of you. But really it refers to the story of the wolf who kept jumping and jumping to get some grapes off the tree. When he couldn't get them he walked away muttering, "Those grapes were probably sour anyway."

Yeah, I would much rather be 3rd or 4th place to the Devil Rays than be in the playoffs with them....dumbass.

If you would rather not make the playoffs than lose in them, you are stupid.

Lol. I was farking around man. I admitted they were done and I know they got outplayed by the Sox. But if you would like to ride that wave be my guest. Whats funny is that Yankees at least know how to win with some class. Redsox fans, they dont even know what class is. I was in Boston this past weekend. Not a bad place. But dont deny that there a large number of redsox fans who are just god awful human beings. Yankees probably have some too, but not like in Boston. That whats losing for 100 years does to you, it makes you a bitter asshole, so that even when you do get what youve been wanting after all that time, you cant even celebrate it without being a huge asshole. But congrats. Ill be watching when the Rays sweep you.

Was sitting in the car with my friend yesterday .. we are both die hard yankee fans. WE have both come to the conclusion that the team is even playing like they don't belong anywhere close to the playoffs.

Jesus.. this sucks. Ah well will prob get rid of some of the bandwagoners, which is always good.

Ah well new stadium next year .. and ManRam in left. lol. book it. done?

The fact that you think the Yankees are classy when they lose makes me wonder if you watch them. Your ENTIRE fan base boos your best player when he has a bad game (during a good year overall), and the Steinbrenners are the least classy people in baseball history.

Even if the Rays sweep the Sox, at least we won't be at home watching it douchebag.

Well everyone wants to call us the Evil Empire. We buy championships (um haven't smelt one since 2000). WE'll just see what cooks up for next year.

I'm not backtracking on my team at all they have played a great year .. there about 8 games over .500 in tough division. Could of had Santana for Hughes, Melky, and Kennedy which now looks CHEAP.

But you take what your given .. and if this year means not playoffs .. i can take that.

DAMN YOU RAYS !!

In a few hours could someone put out the embers and turn off the lights in New York? Thanks. The Red Sox are burning that place down this week.

Yankees fans woke up this morning and thought it was 1995 again. All the morning DJs were spinning TLC and Coolio. Jumanji is #1 at the Times Square box offices. The gas stations were only charging $1.09/gal all around the city, so at least they have that going for them.

At least the Dodgers still have a shot, three games back and not ten and a half, please look at the DL for the Dodgers. Manager of the year 1996 & 1998, four rings, hell even my Twins are still in it. How's that Yankee payroll looking? If you're a Yankee fan, don't ever argue about payrolls. Didn't he take the Yankees to the playoffs twelve years in a row?

(No, not a yankees fan)
Shrug, call me unimpressed. He has a losing record Pre-Yankees & Post-Yankees. Most big league managers would be able to manage a team stacked with juiced up all-stars to the playoffs consistently.

Well I'm a major sports fan who is a Yankees fan who lives in NY. I'm pretty spoiled with things i can latch onto and follow. Red Sox are having a better year, Rays are doing something I thought Toronto was gonna do. And the kid i played little league with N. Markakis from Baltimore just can't get a good squad around him. Btw, he used to be a pitcher and threw HEAT!

I'm still going to follow the rest of the year will Gold chain wearing, hairy chest having vinnydoz007 switchs caps to the spics in flushing (mets).. not a racist but its a funny thing i have with my friends (some spanish).

Thanks for reminding me its a day game. T-minus hour and a half.

Yeah I thought Toronto was going to be dangerous this year, (one could argue that I was right given the Red Sox struggles against them).

And I don't think I'm alone here in Red Sox Nation in my fear that the Yankees are going to spend an assload of money in the next two years and become very good again.

It's not a money issue. Even though the Yankees have a chance to free up a lot of extra money. Pavano, is gone, that is an assload of money right there free. Giambi, would be surprised if they pick up his option. There are a lot of guys at the end of there contracts this year.

Also, they have some young guys they are seeing coming around Gardner is one of them. Need a dynamic guy who is great in the field and will steal you a couple bases.

You know what it was .. lack of bats. There pitching is pretty damn good with Burnett and Halladay throwing 6+ complete games this year. Rios was the biggest disappointment in my eyes.
