PUMA moving on... August 27th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

CNN, GIVE IT UP. There isn't anything more she can do and she's done plenty. I am on board with her message...you high ratings for this story line are going to become a little chilly.

Why?

As angry as I've been about the treatment of Hillary by Obama's supporters.
As angry as I've been about the DNC selecting our candidate for us.
As angry as I've been about the media's treatment of Hillary, I'll vote for Obama.

Hillary was absolutely right; it's not about us or them (or her or Obama), it's about America's future. We need to return to the good times of the Clinton Administration and I believe Obama (with some help) can get us there with Hillary at his side (I keep thinking about that woman with cancer who adopted two autistic kids).

I hope you haters really appreciate what Hillary has done here...completely self-less and for the people. I think some of you owe her and us an apology. I think Carville said it best: "Politics is kind of like a family. You fight and make up." I'm ready to make-up here folks..

Wow. Someone's kicked out of the cheesecake brigade.

I love how there are 20 or so attacks on CNN and then a PUMA shows up with the "Nobama" crap and looks like a complete idiot. But they don't really need CNN to look like idiots.

CNN, it's not news it's a soap opera. Even if we have to make stuff up as we go.

2008-08-27 04:05:04 PM
I am done with CNN, MSNBC and FOX until after the election.

Each one seems to have some agenda when they slant the "news" they choose to cover.

CNN can't get over the fact that Hillary lost.

Fox is, well, FOX.

And MSNBC has gone too far in their overt support to the DNC that is has lost any hope for objectivity.

There was a time, long ago, when journalists and major media was PROUD of their objectivity. When they reported the news after it occurred, and not created the news to suit the needs when ratings were desired.

It really has come to a head during the DNC convention. I remember when we could watch the WHOLE convention on CNN and were able to watch EVERY major speaker on the podium. Now we have to watch the talking heads spin the talking points from both sides while we miss great speeches by Kucinich and Governor Schweitzer.

I think I'll watch C-SPAN and get the conventions without filters.

WTF is w/ the sudden interest in commenting on everyone's body language? Is life starting to immitate the O'Reilly Factor.

BobtheFascist: WTF is w/ the sudden interest in commenting on everyone's body language? Is life starting to immitate the O'Reilly Factor.

Because it preserves the news cycle. There isn't anything else to really comment on, so they have to generate controversy to try to keep up ratings. And justify all the damn people they have in Denver right now.

Heaven forbid that folks actually just air the damn material and let them come up with their own opinions...

2008-08-27 04:45:15 PM
You know, most of the time CNN Politics page comments are made of fail, AIDS and teh crayzee... but this was indeed a large mass of win.

2008-08-27 04:48:30 PM
The internet is certainly changing how we respond to media manipulation. Early days still (in terms of number of voters that are still part of the 'old system' so to speak), but interesting nonetheless.

CNN has been trying to sell the hell out of this PUMA thing. They want it to seem like there is a large amount of strife, that this will keep the election closer than it should be. They did the same exact thing when Hillary was losing to Obama - they were the last to admit she was losing the delegate count, and would NEVER show the numbers without their "estimated" super delegates added in to make it look like a tight race.

They're trying to create drama that isn't there.

NPR's been doing it, too. Pretty sad.

hubiestubert: Heaven forbid that folks actually just air the damn material and let them come up with their own opinions...

you know, if they had just shown the convention, they could spend ALL DAY today analyzing it legitimately. they wouldn't have to resort to this filler bullshiat. and on the plus side, they'd actually.. you know... show the convention.

I found the positioning of Hillary's cankles odd. What could that mean?

2008-08-27 05:18:35 PM
After President Clinton's speech, I expect CNN to cast bones or disembowel a chicken to determine what effect the speech had on Democratic unity.

I thought we were past the point of giving a fark about what Hillary thought about anything.

Have to crank up the drama. And justify why all these people are getting paid to hang out in Denver on expense accounts.

My thoughts, part 1: That was boring.

My thoughts part 2: Hillary Clinton is one of the only women I've ever seen whose face cheeks look like ass cheeks. It's really uncanny. I wonder if she stores nuts in those things during the winter.

What's really interesting to me is that the 'body language specialist' on Fox News earlier today said just about the exact opposite -- said her body language showed that Hillary was sincere and believable and 100% behind Obama. WTF? Did they switch sides with each other or something?

2008-08-27 06:18:42 PM
Sen Clinton made an excellent speech, and did what was asked of her. It's up to Sen Obama now. He needs to earn his own votes.

The truths are simple:

1. This a retarded story.
2. It is true Hillary gave a pretty self serving speech. What was missing was more important than what was included.

Neither of these are new. Hillary is so farking phony it defies logic. Her one chance to smash it out of the park looked farking weak. She played to her crowd, not the entire crowd.

CNN is actually even worse than Fox lately. three days of coverage over how Edwards' affair will bring down the Democratic party, in spite of the fact that he isn't running for anything. Followed by the revelation that McSame has a history of cheating, to include his current possessed Cindy Brady doll, but it's apparently not an issue. Clinton comes out and supports Obama, in spite of the Republicons that switched parties as Agent Provocateurs, and they resort to collecting the "expert opinions" of her body language.... Wow. These are exactly the reasons that I support Obama more than ever. Anyone that scares the corporate-owned media this much has GOT to be my guy. No Way, How How, No McCain. Oh yeah - Lieberman...lol - let's see how THAT plays out...

I'm glad that they're not going to vote McCain/stay home out of spite, but still, that sounded like a half-hearted concession. They make a point of still painting Obama and pretty much everyone else but Hillary as the villain. They completely ignore Hillary's negative campaigning during the primary, the whole MN and FL fiasco and how that was unfair to Obama and all the other candidates that actually stood by thier pledges not to campaign in those states, the utterly one-sided contest that led to Hillary's 'victory' in MN, and not to mention that horribly fuzzy math that put Hillary in the lead.

It's means her pants suit wasn't long enough. Oh, and that she wants Obama's wife to contract a malignant cancer.

Its a bit like yesterdays last story:

Problem: You're a Fox News Reporter and Michele Obama fails to say something you can attack her for. Solution: Ask "what if" she'd said something controversial and attack her for that

Problem: You're a CNN reporter and Hillary Clinton fails to say something you can attack Barak Obama for. Solution: Get a 'body language expert' to say she is thinking something controversial and attack him for that.

All hail the CNN "Floor Noise Meter".

Who was the genius that thought up that little gem. It doesn't seem to work right half the time. The times I have seen it register the highest levels was when the convention hall was quiet. Perhaps it was inadvertently attached to Wolf Blizter's ass?
