"De Queen is a town of about 5,800 people in southwest Arkansas."

So that's whos to blame - inbred hillbillies.

Irony Police, I need your help.
Would it be ironic if it rained on Alanis Morrissette's wedding day?

I MUST KNOW DAMMIT!!!!

It's like a black fly in your chardoney

/Had a one of the fire stations burn at one of his old departments two years ago.

Well, it is called a firehouse.

2008-08-27 06:44:39 AM
Inaccurate headline contender. They weren't returning from a fire, they went to the fire station to gear up to respond to a fire. And it didn't turn out to be a fire they were responding to anyway, it was just a branch that had fallen across some power lines.

/picky, picky

Is this more or less ironic than a free ride when you've already paid? And does it even come close to the good advice that you just can't take? You know, like that voice in your head that tells you to hunt down Alanis Morissette and ritualistically kill her. Cause if I listened to that voice, I'd do NOTHING but hunt down and kill annoying celebrities.

Would it be ironic if the person who was getting married was a meteorologist and had picked the day because it wasn't supposed to rain? Would it be ironic if they had their wedding in the Sahara Desert so that they wouldn't have to worry about rain? What about if they rented an indoor facility so they wouldn't have to worry about rain and then a tornado hit and ripped the roof off and it rained inside the building? HUH? HOW ABOUT THEN!!!!!????!!????

The only way that rain on your wedding day would be Ironic is if this guy showed up uninvited:

Firehouses are pretty much like any other building; sometimes there are fires in them. This can be especially problematic in volunteer houses where they may not be anyone there until there is a call. It's rather convenient not to have to drive too far to the fire.

My firehouse had a fire in it one evening. It so happens the insurance company rep. was there for an unrelated matter. I don't know if he was impressed or dismayed.

Oh yeah, they called it "Weird Trivia and Facts"
yeah right.

Because a perverse inversion of expectations that happens by chance can't possibly be ironic.

/of course, I have no idea whether you were actually being serious

I found a website that agregates almost every episode. Took a bit to find it. Fox sure is good at getting those links stripped down.

Authorities say the blaze was started by lightning.
Oh sure, the firefighters get to blame it on lightning (presumably w/no witnesses), the least preventable source of ignition. The rest of us get blamed for it ourselves by the fire marshal. MMM hmmmmm...

I just love the truth in advertising we got with this ad in the story:

Even more truth in advertising, what the ad would look like if it really had an Elroy's bartender:

So, their firehouse was the victim of an unfortunately timed circumstance that was not at all ironic?

A fire station on fire is definitely ironic (unless deliberately set by an arsonist.

What if the fire was deliberately set by Alanis Morissette?

/on her wedding day
//of course, that would mean the rain would put the fire out

What if the fire started in the office of the fire chief because of oily rags in a trash can?

What if Alanis Morisette set fire to a crowded theater?

...and if Alanis was still in the theater when it collapsed the theater would then go down on her!
