IndyGemini: If talk show hosts causes people to kill, then so must movies, television, video games, etc.... or is talk radio the only form of entertainment that's deadly?

I'm going to try to explain this to you, because you seem to have some sort of mental block that's making you say stupid things.

Video games and television aren't real. The links between violent content and violent behavior are tenuous because there isn't a strong connection between fiction and reality.

TALK RADIO, AND THE POLITICS DISCUSSED THEREIN, ARE REAL. I put that in allcaps because sometimes I think extremists on both sides forget that we are talking about real things, real issues, and actual, real people. When you advocate violence against a group of people WHO ARE REAL, you are increasing the possibility that they will be hurt IN REAL LIFE. And the psychotic ravings of Malkin, Savage and Coulter urge the murder, imprisonment, and even torture of those they disagree with on a daily basis. If you haven't heard it lately, well, lucky you. It happens every farking day coming from the mouths of those inciters of crime. And there is absolutely NO ONE like them on the left, so don't even try to drag out that false old canard.

If you can't see how video games are different from real life, and the consequences of your actions in each, then you have a much more serious problem than just finding right-wing talk radio "entertaining".

Why couldn't Sebelius have been the famous Democratic woman instead of Hillary? She's just leaps and bounds better.

2008-08-26 09:07:06 PM
She's really a bit of alright. WTG, Kansas and log_jammin!

2008-08-26 09:07:09 PM
i really respect sebelius, but damn she is the most lifeless speaker on the planet. it's not even that she looks like she's reading, or stumbling, just MONOTONE

2008-08-26 09:07:20 PM
Damn it, Sebelius. You had to play the Wizard of Oz card, didn't ya.

/If you've gotta be known for a movie, make it a classic, I guess

DamnYankees: RevMercutio: burndtdan: Cyborg77: Crazy lesbian chick on MSNBC is actually saying logical stuff.

rachel maddow is incredibly intelligent. she is a policy wonk. frankly, she puts pretty much every other pundit to shame.

She's a Rhodes scholar with a Ph.D in Political Science. Not an honorary degree like others. She's very smart and frankly, she knows how to work a debate against people who disagree. This is where Maddow excels over the rest of the folks she ends up on a panel with.

Her talking about the 1992 convention and that Pat Buchanan's speech made her vote for Clinton was really amazing. She said it right in front of the guy.

"Because they didn't hate me."

Dayum.

This was after she had shot down Pat's talking points the entire night, too. I've been telling people about that bit since, tho. Has it been found on the youtubes, yet?

Why is Matthews all pissy all of the sudden?

2008-08-26 09:08:11 PM
The constant chatter in the background is killing the convention.

2008-08-26 09:08:17 PM
Hahaha Chris Matthews is such a retard. He gets personally offended by the fact they want to cut away from him talking about how "women his age" feel offended by the way Hilldog was treated. STFU Chris and find a comb.

Tax breaks are counter-productive with the giant shiat storm Bush is leaving in office. Keep taxes the same but cut back government spending. I thought you guys were a republic.

2008-08-26 09:09:26 PM
I think, if Hill came out on June 3 when the primaries were over, and gave a very contrite, "Go to Obama" speech, and campaigned harder for him, she would have vetted, and probably won. She didn't, so she wasn't considered. She sunk her own boat.

That said, I honestly think Hill's on board now. She realizes even if Obama loses that doesn't guarantee a single dang thing for her. Her and Bill will receive quite a chunk of the blame if he isn't. Her best chance to stay in the Democrats' good graces is to go full-boar for Obama.

Yep. People tend to project a bit more on her than is really there, IMO. People just love the idea of an attractive, female democrat that is popular in a red state like Kansas.

She's done some nice work, but nothing earth shattering. And has had a couple of small scandals.

I agree, but I don't think Bill's on board yet. That's why he didn't get a primetime slot - while I'm sure he'll be okay, it might be a little half-hearted. All reports from the inside seem to say he's taking it much worse than her.

Attractive?

I like her because, like Obama, she seems calm, cool, and collected. She gets things done without being an AW. And she is clearly a good politician based on her achievements in KS.

Descartes: Wow. Who knew that Gov. Sebilius was so boring?

Everyone, after watching her response to Bush's State of the Union this year?

She is seriously hard to listen to because she is so monotone and dull. Could still have been a Gore style VP but I think Biden was a better pick.
