(Some Guy)   The AFA has set up an online form to send Hallmark hate mail for making same sex marriage greeting cards, what a shame it would be if logical people used it to send Hallmark support mail instead   ( afa.net) divider line

This is repeated 3 times in a 200 word missive. Just because this act of apartheid is legislated in 48 states doesn't make it honourable or just.

I wonder how these idiots would feel if other people were as interested in their bedroom activities as they are ;)

Dear Chairman Hall:

I know you'll be getting a great deal of flack from fundamentalist nutjobs about your same-sex marriage greeting cards. I just wanted to thank you for finally - in the 21st century - bringing Hallmark up to 1991 social mores. There was a time Hallmark told us to send the very best, but only to certain people. I'm so glad to see you have taken a giant step in favor of simple acceptance. No more American Greeting Cards - you will be getting my business from now on.

I also told them I'm a pastor, since I am ordained by ULC.

Now, to set up a gay-positive auto-reply to the spam they'll be sending me...

I am hesitant to enter my email address in ANYTHING AFA-related, so I just used the direct link they so thoughtfully provided: sgronb3 (at) hallmark (dot) com.

"Dear Chairman Hall,

Thank you for your decision to include same-sex couples in your company's scope. While fringe groups like the AFA will make a lot of noise about your courageous action, I hope that you can face down their hateful words with the knowledge that they are a small but vocal minority that speaks only for themselves, and not for the majority of the public."

Bob_Laublaw: promoting a lifestyle which is illegal in 48 states.

While they're marketing to the "illegal in 48 states" crowd, does Hallmark have a stoner gift card section too? I'd buy some of those too for friends.

Nobody has ever adequately explained to me why homosexuality is wrong or somehow socially subversive. The arguments are always based on irrational homophobia and religious dogma, which represents the foundation of faulty logic.

But it was only placed there during psyche testing during WWII to keep them faggits out o' our milit'ry. (Interestingly, two homosexual men in Washington's army were executed during the Revolutionary War. Their crime was not the fact that they were having sex. They were executed for abandoning their post.)

kaminariko, tragically, is right. The arguments are based on a xenophobic reaction fostered by the early Christian church (and kept going, ironically these days, by the Catholic Church). It's related to the religious propensity toward dehumanizing and demonizing of those who do not follow one's own accepted doctrine. Since most of he laws of Western civilization are based on Christian religious mores, it made it into the law.

Dear Chairman Hall:

I commend you for your acceptance and tolerance of the diversity of our population. There is a card for every man and woman alive in these United States. Thank you for your progressive attitudes towards homosexuality and the need for love in every human being.

P.S. I would very much like to write greeting cards for you, as I have been told I might be good at it.

Haha, I crack myself up. What does Chairman Hall care about homosexuality? He's just looking for another buck.

I'd love to send the AFA one of those musical cards that plays "It's Raining Men."

How dare teh gheys try to celebrate their new rights in a traditional fashion! It's a mockery of marriage!

Dear Chairman Hall:

Thank you very much for broadening your product line and offering new products for the many different types of families who have always enjoyed Hallmark.

Your decision to ignore pressure groups such as the AFA was a wise decision and shows bold business leadership. I am sure it will reward your investors just as it has your customers. Thank you!

I recommend everyone following who sends an email of approval to Hallmark use this text by MisterTweak as a template.

You're approaching it from the wrong mindset. The anti-homosexuals feel that the gay lifestyle is so compelling that they won't be able to prevent their own kids from becoming gay if it becomes more socially acceptable. Their mental images of smooth, shaven male chests slickly gliding together as tongues merge as one, hands roaming over firm backsides and forward to even greater pleasures...yeah, they hate that so much that they need laws in place to keep their kids from going there.

Oh, and themselves. If it weren't for the law, the homophobic godbotherers would be all up in each others' asses.

Hallmark is a private company obviously driven by greed.

Unlike churches, which are never trying to get money out of people, right, Minister Wildmon?

I don't think it's even accurate. Same sex marriage may not be legal, but living a homosexual lifestyle is certainly not illegal. The arrangement of words is very misleading.

I'm on their mailing list so I can send contrary emails every time. I sent email this a couple of days ago:

I know you're going to get pummeled by the American Taliban over your decision to produce cards that honor marriage equality.

Thank you for your continued efforts to acknowledge that love is love, regardless of the participants.

Though you're not a religious organization, it's obvious your decision is far more closely aligned to Jesus' teachings than theirs.

Best regards,
tekmo

Dear Chairman Hall:

I am pleased that Hallmark is promoting love, devotion and commitment between two human beings. There was a time Hallmark told us to send the very best. I'm glad that you have expanded this to promote acceptance for all lifestyles. I don't often buy greeting card, but when I do, it will be Hallmark.

2008-08-24 04:49:03 PM
Dear Chairman Hall:

Good on you. Screw the AFA. I don't personally agree with homosexuality but I agree that people should be able to buy the card if they want to, and, yeah, even stick a penis in their mouth every now and again if that's what they like and it doesn't hurt anyone.

Oh, and having the cards around also opens up plenty of fun possibilities for office humor.

So thanks again, and screw the AFA. Especially for being dumb enough to let us all send email from them to you like this.
