Judges make laws not voters: Nobody has ever explained why homosexuality is right and socially ok. Seems to me the people who participate in that lifestyle just want to ram it down other peoples throats. I don't see why we need to give a stamp of approval to a bunch of sexually retarded people who can't figure the penis/vagina combo.

Have they explained to you that it's none of your damn business what kind of sex other people have? That if you don't want people peering into your private life, you shouldn't be attempting to peer into others' private lives? Maybe they think you haven't figured out that even straight couples use more that the "penis/vagina combo" because there are 2 other orifices and people have hands whether they're male or female. Seriously, there are sooo many other things to worry about in this world than the type of sex that people are having(except for safe sex perhaps)....the economy, whether global warming is a hoax, West Nile virus.....

Excellent subby...would never have known about this crap otherwise

Dear Chairman Hall:

I am surprised that the freedom to choose your own lifestyle is not sanctioned in more than 2 states. Thank you for keeping up your tradition of sending the very best. The AFA has provided this forum for us to show our appreciation that a landmark American company truly represents freedom of choice and tolerance - and note that its "standard" message is, in fact, factually erroneous as just because one can't marry same-sex partners in 48 states, does not mnake the lifestyle illegal. We hope your competitors follow suit so they can't use financial blackmail against you.

Sincerely

An enlightened heterosexual

MisterTweak: they're terrified, illiterate consumers who would quickly vote to ban the bible if they actually knew what it said.

Exactly. Some of them are Christians, and definitely a majority, but so what? Doesn't really say anything about Christians, other that they're generally the majority religion in most groups in America. It happens.

Besides, some of the stuff in the Bible is some crazy-ass shiat. (Note the hyphen. Crazy-ass shiat, not crazy ass-shiat.)

Winterstar: Great Janitor: Though the bigger question is this, if your neighbors are homosexuals, how is your life effected?

Better parties, good advise on style, and higher property values?

You left out kick-ass herb gardens, a library filled with books on Eastern philosophy and do-it-yourself mandolin building, home brew, neat yards, relative quiet, friendliness, zero drama and able dog-sitting in a pinch.

So we support you.

Dear Chairman Hall:

I am surprised that Hallmark is promoting same-sex wedding cards. I always thought that homosexuals were discerning elitists who would only use designer cards made of vellum or ancient Japanese paper, or express their feeling through performance art. I imagine that many are saddened by this inevitable dilution of gay culture, but I find it rather amusing. Enjoy your day, F.T. Pants

Here's why homo-lifestyle is innately wrong. If "everyone" were homosexual, then eventually, procreation would be jeopardized and as a species, we would die off. We are male and female for a reason, religion based and/or evolution based. If homosexuality were normal, then we'd be born that way. Instead, it is a choice and a sad one at that. Speak to anyone that has gone from the dark side to the right side, as I have, for a real look at the sad behavior homos live and espouse. There is love. As humans, I care for all, but the behavior is sad, so very sad. Marriage is between man and woman; gay to gay is not marriage, but a sad relationship.

I thought mine was pretty simple. Used a fake 666 email address. Told my friends.

Dear Chairman Hall:

I am PLEASED that Hallmark is promoting an unhealthy lifestyle which is FAIRLY COMMON in ALL 50 states. AND IRAQ. There was a time Hallmark told us to send the very best. GLAD to see you have taken a giant step FORWARD. No more WILL American Greeting Cards, your competitor, (deleted) be getting my business.

But Wrong_Intentions did it best.

Title: I Love you, Hallmark.

"I fully support your decision and am glad to see a corportation take such a progressive stance on such an important social issue."

That's what I sent.

2008-08-24 05:22:26 PM
Dear Chairman Hall:

I would like to congratulate you on your decision to go ahead with your line of same-sex marriage cards. This natural expansion of your product line displays not only a wise and sound business decision, but respect for the diversity of customers who have been loyal to your company over the years. I only wish my cousin had married her wife more recently, so I could have given her a card that truly displays the love and affection they share.

What's really interesting here is, Hallmark, Inc, also Hallmark Channel (formerly Odyssey channel, is owned by Crown Media, which has a considerable stake in it's ownership by The National Interfaith Cable Coalition (crown media holdings), which also includes in part, ownership by the Church of Latter Day Saints and a bazillion other church organizations.

Can I get a "holier than thou" here?

quizzical: jaylectricity: Haha, I crack myself up. What does Chairman Hall care about homosexuality? He's just looking for another buck.

It isn't just about the money. Hallmark was already making money from same sex marriage supporters. Not every Hallmark wedding card has a picture of a man and a woman getting married on it - there are plenty of cards with hearts

IStateTheObvious: Why is it Fark is re-hashing old Reddit/Digg stories? Exact same headlines even. It seems to be happening alot lately...

Maybe someone is submitting things to multiple sites? Of course I got an article greenlit on Fark a month ago and some asshole submitted my headline, word for word, to reddit. I wouldn't have cared if they'd given credit to me or Fark, or linked here instead of the original article. It's just lazy.

Tell that to the Chinese government.

Your purpose here isn't to procreate. It's to live. If you're willing to devote your life to a child, by all means, do so and do it properly. Those who choose not to aren't criminals. They're just people trying to live happy lives.

Let them.

Dear Chairman Hall:

I apologize on behalf of the coherent portions of society for the letters I'm sure you're receiving from the radical fundamentalists who populate the American Family Association and its e-mail lists. The decision by Hallmark to provide cards that celebrate same-sex relationships and partnerships is a bold and welcome move by your company, and I hope that the rantings of a few misguided individuals who have yet to recognize that the world is made up of more beliefs and viewpoints than their own will not dissuade you from continuing this offering. Thank you for your courage and leadership in this matter.

I live in an apartment complex with a gay couple and a tranny. The gay couple, they are a trip, especially when they fight. My girlfriend and I have gone out to dinner with them a few times. It's best when we all go out and someone gives them that 'I hate gays' look. The biatch of the two of them, puts on the best possible show.

The tranny, well, my girlfriend still won't go for the me, her and the tranny threesome, but my girlfriend is still willing to tell me how hot she is some days as well as how much she loves the tranny's shoes.

I want to commend you in including gays and lesbians in your collection of Hallmark greetings. It is only right to acknowledge that they are people too, and deserve recognition and respect.

I am sending this email via a forum that was set up to condemn your decision. Don't worry about them. They are a very vocal and annoying minority. The rest of us sane people can see that cards for same sex marriages makes good business sense.

Kudos Hallmark!"

Hehe. Thanks for the forum, ignorant bigots!

nanofreak: What's the email address of the douche at the AFA, we should all put that in as our email address.

No, you should put your own name and address in. Take the high road. I did.

What's going to happen is that the AFA will issue a press release ("Over 500,000 Concerned Citizens Email Hallmark Chairman Over Homosexual Cards") that omits any discussion of how many of those 500,000 users were on which side of the issue. If the anti-AFA side enters false, unaccountable info, it will count for that much less when the Hallmark people actually read the submissions.
