The 7 Houses of McCain sounds like a great horror film.

I thought the guy sending out anthrax offed himself already?

benlonghair: Shrugging Atlas: Anyone check to see if the return address was one of McCain's seven houses?

Ten is what I saw reported earlier, IIRC.

So that's 10 houses, with $3468 paid in property taxes in 2006. So, an average of $346.80 per house in 2006. I would kill to have that kind of property tax number. Or, perhaps John only actually owns the apartment in DC.

Step 1: Send McCain offices white powder
Step 2: Put on a brave face and stand up against turrist letter senders
Step 3: Say it is proof turrists are afraid of you
Step 4: Profit.

Funny, the last time someone pulled a "envelope full of white powder" threat, it was a freeper who did it.

Tommy Moo:
My bet is that it was sent by a Republican looking to drum up sympathy.

My guess is that it's a pro-life nut job who is/was mad about all of the pro-choice VP talk.

Didn't his house comment hit yesterday on the Politico? It takes snail mail 2 days to deliver, doesn't it?

Pfbt, if they wanted to drum up sympathy, they would foreclose McCain's properties, and really make him one of the people.

/If it could happen to Ed McMahon it could happen to John McCain

If he only actually owns one, then he looks even dumber for not knowing how many he owns.

I seriously doubt the "last time someone pulled" this was Nov. 2006. I mean, really? REEEEEALLY?

And seriously, people who responded to me in a serious manner, =\.

I love the title McCain Office Is Sent White Powder, Threat. It implies that you can get white powder in the mail and it wouldn't be a treat.

OOOO... My package of free roam talcum powder is here.

I wonder who the FBI will "suicide" over these shenanigans?

The idea that John McCain, a former POW (that's Prisoner Of War, hippie), would need prescription drugs to service his wife like a True American, is rediculous.

Or perhaps he wanted to avoid those "gotcha" moments that are now spreading around cause the guy wanted to make sure of the question? I read over the Senator's 2006 Tax Return, cause that's how I roll. He paid nothing in mortgage interest, which tells me he owns whatever real estate he has outright, yet he only paid $3468 in property taxes. That number is small for an actual house. It's more likely his apartment, considering he also did not include a Schedule E, Income from Rental Property.

I'm going to say that since he and Cindy keep their finances and taxes separate, that he wanted to avoid the "HAHA, you said that you have 10 houses, when they all actually belong to your trophy wife. You're dumb McCain!"

This is nothing more than a Big Tent act. 'Ooooh! Look over here! Don't mind that stuff happening over there! Pay attention to me!'. McCain hasn't been 'getting enough press' so they invent something that the media will swallow whole and spew out at the mindless masses to gobble up and spew out all over each other.

This is the McCain campaign's 'missing white girl'.

Baby Diego: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin, 1755

Can we get a variation on Godwin's law for this quote? All it does is beg the question of what 'essential liberty' is and generally glosses over that society as a whole is a trade-off between individual freedoms and collective stability.

That and nobody is sure Franklin even said/wrote it.
