Am I the only one that didn't find Jeri Ryan attractive on Voyager? There was something about the way they had her hair so short that made her face look wierd and mannish.

Once her hair was down, she was damn hot. But she didn't do anything for me on Star Trek.

jackrazz: Am I the only one that didn't find Jeri Ryan attractive on Voyager?

Probably.

I didn't watch Voyager much, so I can't really speak on it needing to be saved. But I do know I became just a bit more cynical when Ryan's character was brought on. Tits on TV isn't reserved for sci-fi shows, but I swear that's where it's most egregious. I like a pretty woman as much as the next guy, but I feel like a tool when I see shows trying to get my loyalty by putting a floozy or two on screen in the hopes that I'm desperate enough to watch as a result.

BSG avoided this problem by just having a half-naked hot blonde from the get-go.

Koenig was an odd situation because he was actually a fill-in for Takei when he couldn't make it back for the start of the season because filming on The Green Berets ran way over schedule. Without that, he might not have been cast.

A Borg with tits made Voyager infinitely more watchable, so I fail to see the problem.

FTFA: Just in case that character dynamic didn't work, the producers dressed the very attractive Ms. Ryan in (thinly) sprayed spandex. Ratings shot up.

I'm sure that wasn't the only thing that shot up. And shot up. And required towels.

In other news, I always thought Jeri Ryan was a very attractive and intelligent giggity giggity giggity goo. OH!

satchel13: No Cousin Oliver?

This is what I expected to see in the article. Or Leonardo DiCaprio on "Growing Pains"--something along those lines.

Singling out Jeri Ryan is a bit unfair. Although it's obvious they were going for the fanboy demographic with the skin-tight spandex & 4" heels, her character was the most interesting. Any storyline involving 7 was infinitely better than anything centering around Kes, B'elanna, or the freakin' holographic doctor.

Yes....both her "characters" were quite interesting.

But seriously, I agree. The stories involving Seven were usually interesting but after she arrived, I think the stories with other characters were equally interesting, overall. I mean, some episodes were nothing spectacular but I did see an overall improvement after she showed up...and I'm not just talking about tits.

/Seven of Tits was a babe but I think Kes was uber-sexy.

SciFi geeks are weird. They tend to think that any girl in a show they like is a goddess.

What about Alexander, the Cousin Oliver of Star Trek: TNG? I wanted the Borg to assimilate that little bastard in the most realistic, painful way possible.

Well, they kinda needed to break out anyways, since up until introducing 7, half their plots were "Janeway Can Do Absolutely Everything" or "Harry Kim Is The Universe's biatch". DS9 was still a zillion times better, even after 7 came onboard. Also, the Borg on Voyager sucked
1) Why did they get leprocy?
2) They were friggin' weak.

THIS!

Jeri Ryan is gorgeous, but her Trek character was just weird and un-gorgeous. I can't really say why, but something about the way she was made up for Trek was just... wrong.

Sort of off-topic, but where is Ted McGinley at this very moment? He exists in the world, so he's somewhere, but what's he doing? Did he save all that ride-a-once-popular-show-into-the-ground money and buy an awesome house on the beach in Malibu, or is he selling real estate, like Suzie Quatro does in my home town? Ted, if you're a Farker, please let us know what you're up to these days.

I don't think Alexander really counts. It wasn't like he was brought in to garner anyone's attention or because there were other kids on the show who were getting too old. He only had one appearance in the season he was brought in and a few here and there in the seasons that followed.

Well, I think he makes up for it with his Revenge of the Nerds and Married: With Children roles anyways.

I'm sorry, but big tits are not enough to declare someone attractive. And after a certain size, you start going back DOWN the curve of attractiveness. Look, they have no internal supports (assuming they're natural). And that means that, beyond a certain size, you're going to get sag. And sag is never attractive. Ever. EVER.

J. Frank Parnell: /just like that awful Data character

What is strange about Voyager is that she was the THIRD such character they put on the show. You had the EMH and Kes. Proof that the writers were bankrupt from the start.

The article was dead-on right about "Seven" ruining Married with Children. Those episodes were completely unwatchable.

Why the producers and writers thought that adding that stupid kid was a good idea, I'll never know.

He was in that Hope and Faith show a couple of years ago. According to IMDB he's working on a couple of movies right now.

I didn't think he was that bad in MwC. He fit the role well.
