I hear it's also real high-maintenance, can easily clear an $1000 bowl of coke in weekend, and sex with it feels physically and emotionally like molesting a 11-year-old boy.

Then it breaks the single season receiving TD record with a QB that breaks the single season TD record as well.

Now that's faith I can believe in!

This is a REALLY cool (re)discovery. I hope they start using it in other places too, not just in private homes.

FTA: Keeping his pool chemically balanced was time consuming and messy.

More than half of the chemicals have nothing to do with disinfection. The rest have to do with hardness and pH.

If you have a salt chlorinator like the guy in the article has, you only need to add salt once a year, usually just before swim season. Check the muriatic acid once a quarter (affects pH). Add anti-scale at about the same interval (prevents dirt discoloration of the plaster), and a water hardener if you live in an area with soft water. Shock the pool an hour before use and require that everyone shower (or at least hose off) before getting in. That's about all you need to do.

Switching to an algae system really isn't going to do much to cut that down since salt chlorinators are already moderately low maintenance.

If the chlorine stinks, it is because your free chlorine levels are too low and your combined chlorine levels are too high. Otherwise, it shouldn't be able to smell much chlorine. There are devices you can get that help eliminate that. I have one on my pool, and I've never smelled chlorine.
