What a sad, sad story. I hope the baby will be okay, but it's going to be touch & go for awhile. The little guy couldn't have weighed all that much if momma was only 6 months along.

That's sad and awesome and sad.

And knowing our courts system, those 30 men will all be responsible for child support.

On a serious note, very sad story indeed.

Beautiful story :( Every now and then I'm reminded that there are good people in the world.

How long does the baby have to live if the mother dies, anyway?

The child (new window) in 30 years.

I thought it was a woman who got pregnant from an orgy.

How dare the subby misuse the Hero tag. This story had nothing to do with a baseball player changing their jersey number, a man saving his beer from a burning home, or a celebrity hanging out with a dying child for a photo opportunity. By gosh darn it, the Fark hero tag is a farce, and should remain so.

There's more to the story.

Police: Van unsafe to drive
The 72-year-old van driver, Walter Walker, pleaded not guilty to criminally negligent homicide and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was being held on $100,000 bail, and his attorney didn't immediately return a phone call.

Police said in a court filing that the brakes on Walker's van had deteriorated so badly that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Walker told investigators he had some repairs done six months ago but knew there were still problems.

Police said Walker's license has been suspended 20 times, most recently for failure to pay parking tickets. He had previously been sentenced to probation and fines for driving offenses.

"We was riding along, coming down the hill," John Dargan, a passenger in Walker's van, told the Daily News. "He said, 'Oh, my Lord, I don't have no brakes.' It happened so quick. I just closed my eyes."

jennyz: "Beautiful story :( Every now and then I'm reminded that there are good people in the world."

We're all basically good, provided all our immediate needs are met and we've had a proper upbringing.

Sad, but heartwarming. I salute the every-day heroes whose fundamental humanity compelled them to do together what none of them could alone.

He didn't do it on purpose, but by his inaction to fix the brakes, he caused her death by negligence. And by his prior record, he sounds like an uncaring asshole. Shove the book up his ass.

a guy i went to grade school with flipped his pickup on a gravel road and his younger sister was ejected then the truck landed on her. he somehow managed to lift it off her but she was already dead. its amazing what people can do on adrenaline. thats awesome they were able to save the baby. did she have a husband or is the baby going to be an orphan?

Who's a hero in this story? If I saw 29 people lifting up a bus (whether or not I knew why) I'd probably run over and join them. How long would it take them, maybe a few seconds? It was good of them to help out, but that's 99% circumstance and 1% being a good samaritan.

Isn't Madalina a girl's name? Are we sure it was 30 men, or does it just sound better to say that?

This is by far the best use of the hero tag that I have seen in quite a long time. Kudos to the 30 men who did this.

This is so sad for the mother and I hope she is resting in peace.

I also hope the baby survives with no complications and I hope that the baby has a father or close relative to take care of him/her.

OK, this is why I love Fark. This story is a tragedy. It's warming to hear so many people tried to come to this woman's rescue.

But this shiat is funnay.

/I can feel several things at once.

The hero's are the men who stepped up to do what needed to be done in a terrible situation. You would not believe how many people would just drive by.

I predict that baby will turn out to be some kind of superhero.
