And after this, she had another affair, with a married Edwards' aide, who knocked her up. And then despite the affair being over, Edwards met her and the kid in a hotel without his wife's knowledge, staying until the wee hours of the morning. And that unnamed friends may have been giving her some money; Edwards just doesn't know.

I believe him. Don't you? And I believe that everyone in his staff were just innocent dupes, and we don't need to look any more closely. I mean, why would any of them lie?

This makes me sad. During Edwards' first run for president I thought him and his wive were so cute and sweet. I loved her, and I loved their story - that they fell in love despite the age difference, and their love flourished during her first battle with cancer. I know most politicians are assholes but I sort of had hope for him and his family.

This really makes me hate him. How humiliating to be dying of cancer and your husband farks some other woman and possibly gets her pregnant. Ugh.

Someone would have to be an idiot to come right out and say that this reflects poorly on the Democrats or Obama, because that would just open the door to drudge up McCain's all too similar history.

But if they insinuate that it reflects poorly on the Democrats or Obama, without saying it explicitly, then the Democrats will shoot themselves in the foot if they then try to bring up McCain. It will look like an intentional deflection of attention to McCain and it will benefit the Republicans.
