Do NOT mack on STYX!

2008-08-05 03:52:08 PM
How could any song possibly be worse than "The Christmas Shoes"?

2008-08-05 03:54:28 PM
FOUL.

The worst song of all time is "Sweet Child O'Mine," which is a proven scientific fact.

Followed closely by "MacArthur Park" and "Sittin' in La-La Waitin' for My Ya-Ya."

2008-08-05 03:55:36 PM
Aw, I liked U Can't Touch This.

And you know that you were jamming to Ice, Ice Baby back in 1990. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

2008-08-05 04:01:05 PM
"Come Sail Away" was not a bad song.

"Mr. Roboto," on the other hand...

2008-08-05 04:02:31 PM
I'm not a fan of the Eagles, but I can let most of their music slide. Hotel California, however, drives me into a red rage.

As to the actual list, say what you will about U Can't Touch This and Ice Ice Baby, there isn't one of us alive in the 80s that doesn't hear the word "Stop" followed by a line from one or the other of those songs.

2008-08-05 04:04:48 PM
What's wrong with Hotel California? I mean..don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan or anything, but I see a lot of people who just loathe the song.

2008-08-05 04:07:36 PM
"Greatest Love of All" should be on that list.

2008-08-05 04:07:43 PM
I don't know why I enter these threads. All it does is put crappy songs into my head that I can't get rid of for two or three days. Goddamnitall.

Styx' "Come Sail Away"

Putrid. Just horrible. One of the many reasons I can't listen to classic rock radio. How are they still playing this song???

2008-08-05 04:14:45 PM
No "Imagine"?

Helen Redey worse than Celine Dion?! Shenanigans!

Could you imagine if the Titanic soundtrack featured "I Am Woman" instead of "My Heart Will Go On"?

/seems hilarious to me for some reason

2008-08-05 04:19:04 PM
this list is bullshiat without starship's "we built this city."

2008-08-05 04:22:35 PM
C'mon pretty mama, no "Kokomo?"

Break My Stride
Mathew Wilder

2008-08-05 04:27:15 PM
What's wrong with Hotel California? I think it's a great song. Honestly, my friend has played for me the Jethro Tull song it's supposedly based off and I can't hear anything similar.

FlashHarry: this list is bullshiat without starship's "we built this city."

I agree.

WE BUILT THIS CITY ON ROCK AND ROLL

Procedural Texture: Whiney Houston: most overrated vocalist ever.

See, I've heard from recording engineers that pre-Crack she was perfect; no using machines to make her sound better than she was. You just plugged her mic into the soundboard, adjusted the levels, and you had gold on wax.

So you may not like her, but her performances were PERFECT. One take, always on.

2008-08-05 04:34:17 PM
No "Final Countdown"? For shame.

2008-08-05 04:41:30 PM

How about anything by Captain and Tennille?

Hammer 2 Legit also comes to mind.

2008-08-05 04:59:12 PM
"Love Touch" by Rod Stewart
"Who's Johnny" by El DeBarge
"Sweet Freedom" by Michael McDonald

...and you have a 1986 movie trifecta

Also, that "Dear Mr. Jesus" song that made the rounds during Christmas 1987. And votes for the aforementioned "Break My Stride" and "Kokomo".

2008-08-05 05:08:12 PM
Not to mention "Havin' My Baby" and "In The Year 2525".

I'm with you. It is OK for a bit and then it completely falls apart in some extraterrestrial spasm, ruining any prior redeeming quality

2008-08-05 05:45:43 PM
These lists really need to have the qualifier of "popular". There's so many absolutely horrid songs that are far worse than any of these, but that just never were popular. Mostly because of how horrid they were. These songs all at some point were at or near the top of the charts.
