Wendy's Chili: As a Phils fan, I know plenty about loving losers, but I'm tired of seeing this whenever I click on the sports tab.

I agree. At least you are in a division where the Phils get some mention due to the Mets, or at least here recently. The NL central gets less press than the NL west.

At least the Favre headlines have died down a bit.

ChicagoKev: Chicago is awesome to visit as a tourist (unless you're changing planes at O'Hare).

Not such an awesome place to live, with the taxes, corruption, police apathy, tourists, traffic, and weather.

/Moving as soon as I get downsized.
/Next week, I hear.

Speaking of corruption I was at the game last night and was stopped by Rod Blagojevich. He asked me if the Brewers had won. The guy is such a douche, but he was strangely approachable.

Even as a Cardinals fan, you can still understand how fans like the Cubs. They are just the lovable loosers.

With your 2nd grade spelling, there was no need to point out that you are a Cardinals fan.

Easy there cowboy, just because I dropped an extra "o" in there by mistake is no reason to get your underpants in a bunch.

There is never anything negative about an elvis sighting, everything elvis does is gold cause elvis is everywhere.

I hate to ruin the moment, but how much of a dick is the security guard who goes after Elvis' buddy? I'm not sure slamming and jumping on top of the guy like a cop (which the guard surely wishes he could be) was justified there. The overall awesomeness was totally worth it, though.

To be fair to the security guards the tornado sirens were going off and the PA announcer had just finished telling everyone to "seek shelter immediately." I'm pretty sure drunk fans running on the field was the last thing they needed to worry about. It was a fairly intense atmosphere.

Happened at my graduation. At the time, it was only the second graduation at The Ohio State University to ever be rained out (never researched it, just going by what I read/heard back then). The other was 1948. Rain was coming down so hard we couldn't hear the speaker.

One PhD student ran out and did the slip and slide on the turf, threw his mortarboard in the air, and ran around. No one stopped him. Then almost all the PhD types rushed the field doing similar things. At that point, we all said the hell with it and walked out of the rain.

If my family hadn't insisted on me being there, I would've been a no-show for the graduation and stayed dry. As it was, we all got soaked and I picked my diploma up the next day.

Was kind of fun walking up the streets in knee deep water, though.

2008-08-05 03:28:24 PM
from the article:
"With the Cubs batting in the bottom of the eighth, the thunder and lightning resumed with a vengeance. After one particularly jarring explosion, Houston's Lance Berkman threw off his metal chain and then sprinted off the field, refusing to risk electrocution"

I dont know exactly, but I think it has to do with the fact that some providers change hotlinked pics to nasty images in order to punish the hotlinker. Announcing it was hotlinked is a way of denying responsibility for the image if this occurs.

But that's just a guess.

Ah, so glad somebody mentioned Rick Dempsey. Those were the good old days. Ballplayers won't do that shiat now since they might break a nail and be in violation of some strange contractual agreement.
