Saw this last night when it happened. I though he broke a leg or something. He came back and did the exact same trick on his next run and stomped it. Then Bob Burnquist stole 1st place from him on his last run.

I don't take the X Games very seriously but that event is insane. I bet most skaters wouldn't even dare do a straight practice run on it.

I got butterflies from the view at the top of the ramp, at the start of the video. Seems like dropping in from the 300-level seats.

Why do they still do the X Games? Xtreme sports had their day in the late 90's, but now it's kind of dead. And it's look like people are trying to kill themselves to make it popular again (won't happen)

There are a *lot* of people making a *lot* of money for riding a skateboard all day. When that stops happening, there'll be no more X-Games. Until then, it'll keep on keeping on.

I watched this live last night too. I was really hoping Danny would pull off the Gold after the rediculous crash. But Bob Burnquist definitely threw down to win.

I'm hoping the new "Super Park" event will live up to the hype. Looks like a fun course to ride.

I love the X Games. I may not catch much of it, but it is still really fun to watch. I really want to catch some of the rally racing and street skate boarding stuff. Vans has this crazy competition they do where they just put a car or something in the street and people have to do tricks off of it. I hope they bring that to the X Games too.

Danny Way may be one of the most insane people to ever walk the earth. The dude broke his neck, has several titanium plates holding bones together, and one leg where almost all his tendons are synthetic. Yet he still continues to push the boundaries in skateboarding. People that don't skate just like watching people slam for the most part, but if you knew what this guy has been pulling off for 20 years, you'd be in awe. Pure talent + titanium balls = D. Way. I was lucky enough to skate with the dude a couple times about 10 years ago and watching him made me want to quit cause of how insanely good the dude is.

The guy that bailed on the motorcycle front flip while 30 feet in the air took a huge hit too.

And, Danny Way hit his head on a later run in this same event about 30 minutes later.

I am unsure as to how he survived the night and (seemingly) did not break both tibia/fibula and/or fracture his ankles.

I liked how he tried to do the "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" Li Mu Bai "fly-over-the-buildings" run before he went *KER-SPLAT*. Obviously he did not train at Wudan Mountain.

It was great because he dropped in going backwards(switch foot), Didn't grab his board over the big gap, and landed backwards after going 20 feet in the air and spinning 360 degrees on the quarterpipe at the end.

If you never rode a skateboard I can easily see how it doesn't look impressive, but to anyone that has, it's DAMN impressive.

I don't know about that. I don't think being crazy means that your spine/head/limbs can withstand larger impacts. '100% of farkers would never have the balls to do something like that' is more accurate.

Last year's X Games drew its largest TV audience yet. With the TV ratings growing, it's not "kind of dead." It's alive and well.
