That's why Manny is one of my favorite players. He will probably go down as my favorite Red Sox player of all time, maybe sharing the duty with Jason Varitek.

I'd have him on my team any day, rants and all.

July 21, 2004-Manny intercepts a cut-off throw from Johnny Damon in absurd fashion- he appeared to be about about 20 feet away at the time-allowing an inside-the-park home run in the process.

This had me in tears.

I have faith in management that they can recover from the loss of Manny, because we had superstars before that didn't bring us a WS trophy. Roger Clemens? He wasn't even the best pitcher in the WS for the Sox; Bruce Hurst was. Pedro Martinez filled the Fenway seats, but he couldn't take us all the way either (at least, on his own).

Theo and the current owners have got some good players, and I feel they've made more good moves than bad. There's no way Manny's stats could easily be replaced, but I think the Sox will recover nicely.

Then again, when Manny called it quits in 2006, the Red Sox didn't look so great.

it absolutely did happen but mlb has made sure to eliminate the video from the internet

The video has been removed from Youtube, Metacafe and probably the MLB site as well.

Jim Rome shows it every now and then. I barely saw it for the first time maybe a month ago. it is farking funny. He does this crazy sideways jump to cut the ball off, as if he was playing the hot corner and robbed a base hit down the line.

My favorite is still the jump into the stands earlier this year. he catches the ball, then high fives the spectator in the front row, then comes down and makes the throw.

that has to be on youtube.

Saw it. It was one of the most absurd plays I've ever seen in baseball... no, I don't just mean the Majors (in which case, it may have been the most absurd).

He basically dove like he was catching a line drive that was around belt-high.

Tomorrow's headline: Manny Ramirez kills family and school children, rapes 6 year old albino boy.

Chris Berman: Oh, Manny's such a goof. Hey there's big papi, wonder if he's jerked it yet today. BACK! BACK! BACK!

Thought I found it on this page, but the video doesn't work:

See if you can get it to work.

If you didn't notice I hate Chris Berman and Manny Ramirez and Red Sox fans who live over 2000 miles from Boston.

Sure, I mean, the ball was probably going to bounce a couple times in the outfield, but wasn't there an actual cutoff man not too far behind Manny in that instance?

Manny couldn't take that chance. Do you play those odds? Manny doesn't play those odds!

hahah. people have tried denying the water bottle story, but here is another cite of it...

does anyone have proof of that one? Funny, but it barely even seems worthy of mention anymore in the world of Mannyisms.

how about the moment that just happened. a no hitter in the 7th, manny hits one to third and a just jogs down the first base line. had he hustled and ran it out he could have broken the no hitter as the throw was high.

Home fans even threw some boos out there for him.

must be his bad knee.

Never mind that, the Red sox are getting dangerously close to getting no-hit.

To be fair to Lackey, he had to face the top of the order in the ninth.

Boston should dump Manny on the Dodgers. Los Amgeles loves lunatics, a real hitter would be enough for them to win their division, the Dodgers pose virtually no threat of getting into the World Series against the Red Sox (who are half a threat to be in the WS), and even if that happened the Sox would sweep the Dodgers despite Manny. Plus boston could get back at Joe Torre a little by making him babysit Manny.

The Angels own the Sox this year 1 Loss followed by 7 winns in a row, 4 of them at Fenway. Only one more game left to play between them before the playoffs. On the plus side for Boston the Angels and Yankees habent played yet this year. You gotta think the Angels will win at least half of those games and get the Yankees off your back a little.-

They better.

I think it's pretty clear that the Angels are the best team in baseball. However, they always seem to unperform against the Sox in the playoffs. In 2004 and 2007, the Sox only slightly edged them during the regular season, but stomped them in the playoffs. Assuming the Sox make the playoffs--which is a big "if"--I still think they could at least make a series out of it if they had to face the Angels.
