There's only one New York team leading their division right now...

There was only one New York team leading their division at this point last year.

There was also only one New York team that made the playoffs. They were not the same team.

Funny enough, the two teams have won the same number of championships since 2000.

Did those fans also fall off of any escalators or elevators?

It isnt just Mets fans.

A Rod is also set up to regret the huge cost of being in Madonna's luxury box.

What size? Hopefully at least a pint.

They're 7.50 at PNC for 16 oz, but you have the option of decent local brews for that price. Concourse vendors are 7.00 for a 16oz Yuengling can. At a couple of food stalls you can still get a 12oz IC for 4.50

Shea was a crappy stadium, but lots of good memories there. The last two games I saw prior to moving to Pit were the Pratt playoff homer and the bottle thrown at Rocker (along with the Larry chant and Stooges K signs). Good times.

Looking forward to visiting Citi next year.

I gotta say, as a Yankee fan who sees Citi Field every day on myway into work, it looks awesome (at least from the outside), and I'm completely farking jealous.

$9.50 for an 16 oz Miller Light in your seat at the Stadium. This has resulted in many a missed inning drinking at Yankee Tavern or elsewhere

Is it me, or does the new Yankee Stadium look like the Disney Corp. built it?

I can't decide if it's going to be awesome or grotesque.

As for CitiField, it almost looks a little too classy for the Mets, and I say that as a Mets fan. The Mets as a franchise have always had an inherent element of cheesiness about them; I hope they're able strike a nice balance between having a breathtaking new park and maintaining a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

I have a feeling that observation is better than any of us even know. Instead of designing a whole new stadium, the Yankees built one in the image of the old one, in other words a fake, modern, inevitably cheap impostor. It will be like the Las Vegas / Disney World version of the real stadium. It's a damn shame.

/Hope I am wrong

It's tough to say. I think Yankee Stadium more than CitiField will be a "wait and see" thing.

Where they might have gone wrong (at least with the interior) is in designing it in the image of the 70s remodeling... I would have loved to have seen them try to take on more of the original Yankee Stadium look and feel while adding the modern amenities people expect. As it is, the only bone they seem to have thrown that way is putting the frieze back on the upper deck.

The Roman-style lettering on the outside says it all: George Steinbrenner and Co. have taken this "Evil Empire" thing too far, and actually believe they are Romans, building a modern-day colliseum.

I thought this, too but figured it was mostly from not being a fan. I don't understand the thought process of building a new stadium exactly like the old stadium. Just leave the old one or at least design it based on the pre-1970 stadium.

As a Sox fan who has visited Yankee Stadium II (I will not accept that walls and a bleacher section make it the same stadium!), I'd love it. While they couldn't do it exactly*, they shouldn't have made the interior of the stadium make me think of a cross between Angel Stadium and New Comsikey, either.

*They couldn't bring the support posts back to the stands, and the original outfield would vary between illegal (296 to right, 301 to left, both of which are too short) and retarded (457 to the canyon!).
